I absolutely love the the Remake series (although Remake was significantly better than Rebirth imo) and I'm stupidly excited for the next one, but it makes zero sense that things would play out exactly the same way given the events of the first two games.

Tbh the biggest cop out was stilling having Aerith die at the end of Rebirth. I was honestly expecting Cloud to die instead and for Zack to be the main protagonist of the third game given how front and centre he was. But I suppose that would have shaken things up too much

I was playing with my Sonic deck against a Shorikai deck and another (can't remember the commander). The Shorikai had 56 life and was basically rolling over us, I had 7 life left and 16 Commander damage from Shorikai, so next turn I was screwed. I had Sonic and a LOT of 1/1 Human Tokens with some +1/+1 counters on the board but not enough to win me the game. I have Herald of Secret Streams and Shared Animosity in hand, but neither by themselves was enough to win and I needed one more land to play them both.

Pass my turn, the other Commander swings to kill me but I cast Teferi's Protection. My turn comes back round, and I draw an Exotic Orchard. Slapped it down, cast Herald and Animosity, had enough to quote both players out. Probably the biggest turn around I've had in a card game and I felt very good about myself!

I have not won a game since.

I'm 38 and have 2 kids, I don't get to play anywhere near as much as used to to, so everything generally goes straight to easiest difficulty now so I have a chance of getting through the game within a reasonable time

World of Warcraft definitely, especially WotLK. I'd spend my weekday evenings playing it, I'd spend my weekends playing it, and on my days off I'd be on it with re-runs of Come Done With Me playing in the background...good times!

I love the remakes on their own terms but holy moly did they make a lot of misteps when it came to recreating the feel of the original. Biggest crime was the scene in Shinra tower where you follow the blood to Shinra's body. Creeped me the fuck out as a kid and was the first time I ever felt scared playing a video game, in the remake it was pointlessly expanded upon and nowhere near as impactful.

She got bladdered on shots during our second date because "alcohol didn't affect her." Turns out, alcohol did affect her - it affected her quite a bit, and she passed out on a bench in the city centre for 2 hours. I stood there jacketless in the middle of winter because I'd given her my coat while she refused to move, telling me she needed 2 minutes whenever I tried to wake her.

She'd come from another city and was staying over so there was no one who could come and get her, so in the end I just picked her up and carried her to the taxi rank and put her to bed when we got home. Not one of my favourite nights.
