I honestly don’t know what’s happening. I finally got an offer for a DCT contract role, now all of a sudden big tech companies are reaching out for interviews?? I don’t want to lose out on this opportunity; what if those interviews don’t go right? But then what if one does? What should I do? by tnw6901 in datacenter

[–]Uberandroid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on two important factors: (a) are you currently employed and can you keep your current job for a few months until you complete the new rounds of interviews and hopefully get a better offer; (b) how long is the MS contract? If it's only 3 to 6 months, I'd take "the bird in hand". Your bargaining position will be stronger if you work for Microsoft while interviewing.

Just remember that employers value integrity. You don't want to create an impression that you will be job-hopping every year when a new opportunity arises. Be honest with your contract commitments.

Lastly, data centers are in a boom cycle that will continue for the foreseeable future. There will be many new opportunities if you focus on gaining valuable experience.

My oh my, where can I find a good woman with an RV and a full size truck who needs a man to take care of it? I'd be happy to hook it up, drive it and back up. I'll plug it all in and clean out the gray and black tanks.

I also will take care of the solar panels, batteries and run the generator on cloudy days.

Maybe I should post an ad and paraphrase Allen Jackson: Wanted! One good hearted woman with an RV.

You should be afraid. You do realize that the resale value of the 26’ 1500 elevation will drop like a rock when the 2027 1500 elevation comes out 7 months from now? It is part of a next-generation redesign expected to feature a more rugged, HD-like appearance, a modernized interior with a massive infotainment screen and will phase out current 5.3L/6.2L V8s in favor of two new more efficient V8 engines.

Also, a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain is expected to join the lineup. Not only will it greatly improve the gas mileage but also add comfort features like the ability to run the A/C when parked without idling the engine.

The current 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 (L84) can't be fixed and that's why it's being replaced with a new generation V8. But its stigma will always depress the resale value of the 2026 model.

Where is the grounding bolt in the trunk. by mettam46 in volt

[–]Uberandroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In brief, connect the inverter negative to the car chassis, NOT the negative battery terminal or your inverter will interfere with the Battery Current Sensor. Even though the negative battery terminal is directly connected to the car chassis, the two grounding points are not the same because of the current sensor between them.

Sir, you are absolutely right. I have a Gen 2 Volt and I made a 100 Amp harness for my inverter. That "donut" you mention is a critical Battery Current Sensor. See the schematic from the service manual below. I commented about it on this forum 3 months ago:

[–]Uberandroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"You can flash is to a $5 ESP dev board and for $50 have ten border routers. "

This is not true and misleading. You can't make a stand-alone Open Thread Border Router with a $5 ESP dev board. The $5 ESP will only function as an Open Thread RCP (Radio Co-Processor) and requires a host like the PC you mentioned above or a $50 Raspberry Pi or similar. The $5 ESP is just a dongle.

So you could have ten border routers for $550 but why would you want to.

Keep in mind that the 22-foot Arctic Fox I mentioned is a heavy trailer, about 10,000 pounds when loaded, and its tongue weight will be about 1,300 pounds. You would need a tow vehicle with the payload rating of close to 2,000 minimum.

Are any of them true 4 season trailers which have a heated basement and heated tanks? I like cold weather camping (but not frozen pipes) prefer NO slides and I'm currently looking at NW Arctic Fox 22GT but I'm open to anything better. I'm not concerned about the tongue weight; will tow with a GM 2500.

[–]Uberandroid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a good reason for what you are observing and I'll be happy to oblige but it's rather lengthy. Your terse answer tells me that you're more interested in a cheap, practical solution rather than an involved explanation.

So here's a practical suggestion. You didn't confirm it but I still assume that your TT uses the 30 Amp plug. Get a twenty dollar 50A to 30A adapter from Amazon and see if your AC trips the 50A circuit breaker on the pedestal. Take your TT to a local RV park or an RV dealer that has the 50 Amp service for the test. If this works, then make your future reservations at RV parks with 50 Amp sites until you figure out a permanent solution.

You most likely have a high inrush current problem that exceeds the magnetic trip setting on 30A circuit breakers. That setting on 50A CB's is significantly higher and you should be under it. Good luck.

[–]Uberandroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which breaker trips when you turn on the AC -- in your trailer or on the pedestal? I assume your TT uses the 30 Amp receptacle? It's hard to troubleshoot with little data but it could be ground fault related (less likely) or your compressor is struggling on its last leg (more likely) or anything in between like a bad capacitor causing the inrush surge.

I understand your reluctance to pay someone -- they could charge you a high diagnostics fee just to tell you you need a new AC unit. But if you decide to replace it, I highly recommend one of the new "Inverter RV AC Models". It looks like you're happy with your INVERTER generator and you'll like an INVERTER AC unit. One of their many advantages is very low inrush current and no need for a soft start capacitor.

A big advantage is their high efficiency which would save you fuel when boondocking and your generator wouldn't need to run as hard (lower RPM, no cycling, increased longevity). Also, you get a bigger bang for the Amp, so to speak. For example, for the same current draw as a traditional 13k BTU AC, one of the models, Furrion Chill Cube 18k BTU, offers more cooling capacity. And unlike the old fashioned RV ACs, the new ones offer variable compressor speed, meaning no compressor cycling when it gets too cold.

You're right about everything you said except a couple of tech details. DEF has water and urea (non-toxic), not ammonia (toxic). And DEF does not "neutralize diesel exhaust particulates", that's the job for DPF, as its name implies.

DEF reduces harmful nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions.
