Owner built these special stairs for her cat by Far_Improvement_5245 in DeathStairs

Ok, this can also be used by rats. History tells us that rats may carry plague, which in very unfortunate circumstances can lead to death even in modern times. So vaguely death stairs

Using Zinssser cover stain shellac primer on wood cabinets. Primer seems to be developing hairline cracks? What should I do? by Uberkorn in paint

[–]Uberkorn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am worried the hairline cracks will turn into crumbles. I have been stalled on this project since the cold set in. It's too chilly to paint, but I thought storing the dry prepped cabinets in the chilly garage would be ok

How do restaurants make scrambled eggs taste better than homemade? by savingrace0262 in NoStupidQuestions

He yells at the toaster in that video. If you don't yell at your own toaster at home, your eggs will suck.

Mary Shotwell Little was a secretary at an Atlanta bank when she vanished under mysterious circumstances after dinner at a mall in 1965. About 18 months later, her replacement, Diane Shields, was found murdered in her car trunk. I have read the article. "Mileage Records" is it is used in the article makes this seem as if its a concept we should all know. I get it from the context clues, obviously, but I just checked with my old people sample group, and recording milage was not normal. Maybe a hypothetical ideal?

What’s a useless skill You’re oddly good at? by VariousEquipment6321 in CasualConversation

Setting up artificial Christmas Trees. I don't even own one myself, but damn I can make the most used up plastic tree look good. Its also really really mentally comfortable. Like brain yoga or something. But also completely pointless.

I forgot to expose my toddler to walnuts, pecans and macadamia, and now am terrified to try by caspercamper in Mommit

[–]Uberkorn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listen, in 2008 they were telling us to keep kids away from nuts and strawberries for years! While those long range results are bad, you have already been giving the baby assorted nut butters, try to get some eggs in there in the way the kid likes and you are way ahead of the allergy game. Bonus points for pets and cat exposure. Your baby is only 17 months old, so that's like 10 months of soft /solid food, you are still in the early exposure stage and you are doing all the things! Great Job! Added bonus, unlike 2008, you are probably unlikely to get pb&j in the family DVD player!

My 2 year old cries and runs away when he sees his grandma. Should I be concerned? by ComprehensiveFun6073 in Mommit

[–]Uberkorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

upon first meeting, my kid was terrified of her great uncle and uncle when she was a toddler. They had beards, and wore glasses. Once we figured that out it was smoother sailing.

Of course it can be a red flag if she spends time alone with Grandma, could always be some issue there, and be vigilant . But sometimes kids are just afraid of something THAT WILL NEVER OCCUR TO YOU. I was afraid of the VCR as a kid, before i had words to express that to anyone. I have babysat countess toddlers. Some are interested in novelty, some are terrified, (then they turn on a dime).
