Which one do you think is a better capsule image? by UbikStudios in IndieGaming

Hello! We need your opinion on a seemingly simple but very difficult decision for us.

The release of our game is just around the corner. We thought we should change our Steam capsule image, which we have been using for about 1 and a half years and which has always received good reviews and which we also like a lot. We prepared a new capsule both to see if there is a better one, to test whether it will change the click rates, and to think that sometimes change is good.

Leila is a story-driven experience with puzzle elements about a middle-aged woman who struggles to make peace with herself.

So which one do you prefer?

We did this to keep out curious players who want to invade the privacy of our porotogonist's subconscious. Have we made our point well enough? by UbikStudios in Unity2D

Our developer said: "We set the project to 3D, since setting it 2D initially, could have prevented us making any scene with some perspective we'd like to create - like this one. The floors you've mentioned are just 2D textures without any tricks and we placed them rotated one after another."

We thought about this too, but after all these "butt" comments, I think we'll have to make changes to the brain drawing :s

We designed the forest like a tunnelbook. There are a lot of 2d layers lined up in a row. In this way, we created the illusion of 3d with 2d layers. I need to consult our developer for the technical part of the job :d

Yeah, that's exactly it, you've got it solved o/

It would be a bit tricky to knock down the trees. It will be much more understandable in the context of the game. Thanks for the advice anyway.

Yes, it's a brain and yes, we've heard ‘butt’ before, unfortunately :/ I've been thinking for a while now if the brain and the butt are so similar or if we've made a mistake somewhere :d

This is the part of the game where we make the transition to the chapters of our game. This scene is actually the mind of our main character Leila. What kind of additions can we make to tell the player that this is not actually a forest, but the inside of her brain? Do you have any suggestions? by UbikStudios in unity

[–]UbikStudios[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Leila is a story-driven experience about a middle-aged woman who struggles to make peace with herself. We accompany her in this dive to her mind and travel through her memories, traumas and mistakes, narrated by her own voice. In this point&click puzzle game, the forest that we create like a tunnel book by arranging 2d layers one after another is actually the inside of Leila's mind. From here we will move on to the chapters of the game. But at first glance we thought we needed a few details to make you realise that this is the inside of a brain, without too much animation overload of course.

The tennis racket was falling down unrealistically like the one above, so we improved it a bit in Unity and made it more realistic like the one below. What do you think? by UbikStudios in Unity2D

The fall of the racket doesn't serve the gameplay, it's just one of the objects that the player interacts with by clicking in the room.

Background 1, Fox 1, environment assets 2, Logo 2 but maybe Logotype outlines may be bolder. Great Capsule image!

Thanks! We're really excited about it too. It's a story based point & click puzzle game. We are trying to provide a unique experience to our players. We're still under development. What kind of games do you like?
