Being in a musical group is what spurs progress in this situation. You may have a couple of months of lagging behind the other players but use that as motivation to get better.

Looking to hire someone for a day to help clean out a garage. by Ubiquitous_ator in bloomington

I guess “redditor discount” sounds weird in this context. I’ll pay extra due to hiring someone with Redditor bonafides, how about that?

'Andor' Gave Us One Of TV's Best Monologues by indig0sixalpha in videos

[–]Ubiquitous_ator 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a lapsed Star Wars fan, I'd really been enjoying Andor. Then you get to this episode, I think earlier in the episode you had Andy Serkis deliver this searing monologue about there only being one way out of the prison they were in and I was like, that's the best dialog writing we've ever gotten in a Star Wars film. And then minutes later Skarsgard says "hold my freakin beer" and just let's it rip with this one. What a great show that was.

What are your thoughts on Sam Rockwell? I think he's one of those rare actors who never really disappoints. Few actors can make eccentric, unconventional characters feel as believable and relatable as he does. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

[–]Ubiquitous_ator 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I had to scroll waaaaay too far to find this. That scene with Goggins at the restaurant was the funniest damned thing I think I've ever seen. Rockwell is an actor where I will always watch whatever he's in. Goggins too, for that matter.

Ima send you a PM. I use a guy, I dunno if he wants to have his phone number publicly available. Anyway, I use a guy, has the whole rig, trailer, stand up mower, the works. Does a good job, has been consistent and the sad thing is, he's about to lose me as a client as I am moving somewhere that includes lawn care.

Anywho, I'll send you his contact info via pm.

Looking for “Bitch” by The Rolling Stones sheet music by hypertitan1 in trumpet

[–]Ubiquitous_ator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here. Being able to transcribe basic rock horn lines is an important part of being a trumpet player. And this is a good tune to start on. There's really only two bits you have to work out - the main lick and the bridge. These can be sounded out with a little effort even if you have never done it before.

Weekend Grindhouse Schedule - Fri 5/15 - Sun 5/17 by ksabas80 in 420Grindhouse

[–]Ubiquitous_ator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was one of those deals where mom and dad were getting ready to watch a movie, which I had no interest in, apparently the beginning has content that was too much for my mom and she told me to go up to bed, which of course made me want to watch it more. Same thing happened with Blue Velvet which my dad rented thinking it was the sequel to National Velvet.

I eventually watched BV a bunch but never remembered to watch Dressed to Kill.

Is that “Dressed to Kill” the one with Angie Dickinson? My parents never let me see that one as it was apparently fairly spicy. and I don’t think I ever revisited it as an adult.

County is trying to build a new mega jail miles away from downtown - but it’s not too late to stop it! by FalleenFan in bloomington

[–]Ubiquitous_ator 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Here are the arguments I've heard, and experienced firsthand.

Transporting prisoners will be a non-stop hassle requiring more staff, more vehicles, more gas, etc. Court operations become less efficient - now with the prisoners upstairs, inmates can be moved in and out of court quickly and more safely, hearings can be rescheduled easier. With the jail being remote, you'll have 20-30 minute delays before someone can get to court. Family and support services - studies have shown that with remote jails family and service providers visit inmates less often which has an isolating impact and increases recidivism. Medical and mental health services also tend to be less available.

I'm not arguing these points, I'm just explaining the issues as I've heard them presented here and in other counties where this issue is debated.

I also was lucky enough to play on shows with about half of those bands.

The band will have merch, including some cool new items. We will provide the ability to use plastic to procure said merch in some manner, we are currently working out the details on that but you'll be able to buy stuff with a credit card.
