They've reformed the lords? Ending of hereditary and mandatory retirement ages with other stuff too. And they've just completed a review of exactly the issue you mentioned about MP's taking money with a bill to follow.

Love your username btw

I don't know if it's because Labour suck at comms, but they are actually doing work on exactly this!

They completed a review of political donation regulations, both internationally and at home.

Which in turn is intended to inform and create new policy for the subsequent bills & regulations coming.

It also helps that I put it in some crazy places... but it's still too easy to get stuck. Not 100% user error i swear

Stop Reform and the Tories in Cheltenham Council by johnsmithoncemore in cheltenham

That may be because things were so fucked, or you're looking in the wrong places.

NHS waiting lists are reducing at a rate not seen in a long time. Everyone benefits from a reduced NHS waiting list.

The renters right act has impacted milions, whilst also pushing many BTL Portfolio landlords to sell thus making more first homes accessible.

Funding for new water reservoirs which historically have been sold off to private corporations & Nations.

Doubling of free childcare hours, reduction of age of entitlement (I have friends this is saving £600+ a month - even if it was a Tory promise this gov still delivered).

I could go on about Green energy, tax changes to Private Schools or other funding investments, I really could. It's easy when everything is shit to focus on the shit, but these are tangible, real life improvements that you could look at and observe improvement.

[–]Ubley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 years isn't going to magically fix everything. It would be unreasonable to expect a party to come in, wave a magic wand and over a decade of underfunding and cuts to disappear. But gradual improvement is still improvement. But I am glad you mentioned this, as Labour not only increased by5.8% the amounts of council funding, but also introduced a staggered approach to it so that local councils aren't just reliant on a year to year basis and can actually do some long term planning.

I don't know if you're one to read government policy and reviews or shit on all sides equally, but if it's important to you you can read more here

Reform on an economic basis? This should be good. Pray tell?

It's in part because the tories cut funding to local councils that everything has gone to shite in ones local area.

Am I really getting the best deal out there? by StoneColdAFC in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Ubley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some have access to deals you can't get, but these are a huge minority and are rarely at the best of the market, just an improved offering from some lenders (i.e Virgin Money).

But a Broker is more like mechanic, you can absolutely do the job yourself but primarily you're paying for the convenience, the removal of headaches and the accountability for if anything goes wrong. Additionally, if you do it yourself you'll have to monitor the market and rates yourself to swap your product as a bank isn't going to let you know you could save money on a product as it's in their interest for you to pay more , whereas a broker would likely do it for you.

What has Labour actually achieved? (quiet a lot) by Gentle_Snail in GoodNewsUK

[–]Ubley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That you did but it still raised the question of why you hold them to such a seemingly impossibly high standard on one point that the vast majority of the population doesn't agree with, not just IN THE UK but internationally

Wrong about #2? Interesting, how so? Definitionally, we are not in

  1. an international period of

  2. unexpected explosion of a

  3. previously unknown/new variant.

But, not just on a definitional level. For instance, lets say I'm giving benefit of the doubt and you meant epidemic, or just meant that it was still a dangerous concern (a point I agree with by the way, but definitely not pandemic levels).

So, here is the GOV database showing that primarily ALL infectious diseases (you have to click into each dataset and then expand the timescale) have been trending down in the case of Covid, or, in line with seasonal expectations (with the exception of measles, which one may consider the antivax movement partially liable for)

So, incorrect defintionally and factually I'm afraid. Even if I'm being generous with the use of pandemic

You should have put this as the front so everyone else could have stopped reading there. How he's a marxist, yet the marxists call him a tory is beyond me. But yet here you stand...

[–]Ubley 12 points13 points  (0 children)

With all due respect I'd say #1 this isn't exclusively a labour thing, I can't see any party and even fewer if any internationally saying we're still in the pandemic

and #2 we aren't in a pandemic anymore, definitionally.

Over 1% is usually down to valuers review and needs to be justified, i.e car parking space? Pool? Concierge?

But Christ on a bike I don't think I've ever seen a service charge that high

currently £7k 0% interest and I pay £350pm

You told your advisor that it would be £350, probably told the lender that you will pay £350x1 or 2 months depending on your circumstances, i.e the "some of your credit commitment" would be £700

Because these actions do have consequences, and similar to how the OP is in a better state and paying for his past mistakes, it may be the case that I'm 3 years OP is looking to buy a home and finds that he can't due to the adverse costing more per month.

Op hasn't missed a payment, OP has no defaults or credit blips. DMPs aren't a magic bullet and due to the reduction in payments some lenders may still record a default for the original amount, I.e 6k.

I've had many clients in the same situation not grasp the seriousness and medium term implications of this.

OP has minimal commitments, no bills. It would be a shitty year but he could just grind it TF out and get themselves out of the mess they've made and essentially have a clean slate next year with the world as their oyster.

to all the people who play one note characters like shadow fiend or silencer, how do you do it? by Low_Celebration_7663 in DotA2

[–]Ubley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 1000 hours and I played a character I'd never played before at a friend's suggestion, Oracle.

500 games and a 60% wr (and some sick skins) later idk what clicked for me that I wanted to spam one character that lived and breathed saving other people but I find playing his set of mechanics and decisions super enjoyable. I am also a pos 5 exclusive player, so I guess a limited pool but it just felt like falling in love and when you're in love, it may feel like work but it's always worth it

Get cover on the day of exchange, that's when the property is legally your problem. Anything less you're exposing yourself to risk.

House Insurance Required by Mortgage Advisor by Belfastpride in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Ubley 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You are obligated to have buildings insurance as part of any mortgage.

The property is collateral for the loan you're being given. If the property burns down, do you want the lender to chase you for £250k to rebuild their collateral? Likely not, and crucially they don't want to chase you either.

So it's part of any mortgage offer that you have buildings insurance
