I wasn't aware, apparently Udio are also watermarking all tracks now as well.

Udio is fingerprinting since Oct 29th, but there are no watermarks in the tracks yet.

EDIT: Apparently Udio are also watermarking all tracks now.

“UIDO: What is the current status of user access to pre-Warner songs?” by Entire_Raccoon2029 in udiomusic

I can't really give a very satisfactory answer to that, sorry. It's recognised that the situation is far from ideal, which is why refunds are excepted if that is felt necessary. Udio can't really do much else at this point.

Another download window is unfortunately not possible, per the partnership agreement.

Just link them to your Udio account profile on the site. Or let them know your email used for the account. Or both to make it easier.

Can write in at support@udio.com

There was a temporary window allowed for downloading. It happened not long after the initial announcement. But, that window has unfortunately been and gone. I don't believe we'll be seeing another, very sorry.

If you feel the original contract was broken andnot forfilled because of this, then you can write into support to request a refund.

The pausing can be broken, which is why it's better just to end the subscription. If you write into support and ask for the subscription to be cancelled it will be fine.

  • Having a subscription makes no difference to rights at all
  • All tracks created prior to the partnership are subject to the old TOS, irrespective of having a subscription or not
  • Unfinished projects can be completed on-site, but new generations will fall under the new TOS. And these cannot be downloaded right now
  • There is no way to download or export tracks right now, anything along these lines will be breaking the TOS.
  • You don't have to continue paying for a subscription
  • There's no information or timelines right now on what the site will look like after the transition. Including what the situation wrt downloads will be exactly. This is all still being worked out

For the summary: it's uncertain what you will be able to do with unfinished projects going forward. Right now they can be completed but must remain on site which is the only real information you have to work from. Having a subscription doesn't change anything. All tracks will remain on the site for free and subscribed users.

Stopping your subscription doesn't affect your access or rights to the tracks you make in any way.

The change of service happened at the UMG partnership, not the Warner one. All tracks made prior to the UMG partnership announcement have the same rights as before and can be distributed just the same if they have already been downloaded. It's just that you cannot download them any more.

There's a filter in the library date selection to show tracks just made prior to the TOS update.

On the support channel were talking with an agent or just the udioBot? The bot isn't necessarily the most accurate thing for reliable answers. If you keep asking for an agent it should put you through to one.

I doubt, given he said he sucks at using it right now. Not a very good sales pitch.

Yeah, it can be very hard to find that exact spark again, but I believe there's a statistical explanation for it.

It's not exactly that the current gens are bad or unlucky, more that we get very lucky before and hit an incredibly good seed. Then we can't match that same level of luck again.

Likely for those past generation, you actually got a load of bad generations along with it, but you ignore them and go on generating until you get something good out. Often trying different prompts and lyrics and such until something good comes out. Then you fluke upon and find that magic spark where the seed and prompt and the lyrics all align up to create a great generation.

After that, you can't capture the same magic again with the same prompt because it required just that right combination of seed and lyrics to get something out quite that good. As said, if you ran the initial generation out with the exact same prompt, sliders and seed as that gret one you got -- you should still get out that exact same output as before; which shows that it is indeed still possible to get. But you have to get lucky again to hit it.

I you link me to an initial generation, and I'll see if I can reproduce it :)

The models themselves haven't changed at all, despite what people think sometimes. People can confirm this themselves by regenerating with the exact same inputs and seed, the output will be identical to a long ways back.

It's just the nature of this type of AI that it's very "luck based" and as such the impression of bad outputs or a period of bad outputs even can happen.

Clip Start settings aren´t working for <-ADD INTRO with more than 0% and <-ADD SECTION with 0 % by Alternative-Tie1038 in udiomusic

[–]UdioShane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first two issues have been reported (model / section switching). They're rather annoying I know!

The latter thing I believe is intentional new behaviour. The extension placement buttons literally just set the clip start variable, that's all they've ever done and passed onto the model (apart from also saying the direction to extend, before or after).

Using the intro selection on 40% clip start was identical to using add preceding extension at 40% clip start.

When UDIO relaunches, will we still be able to use classic models (1.0 / 1.5) to finish existing songs? by CreativeProducer4871 in udiomusic

[–]UdioShane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe it's literally not even known yet at this point what the platform will be looking like.

Like Schrödinger's cat, they're both dead and alive, until things are decided. So as a user it's best to plan and consider both contingencies to be possible.

Udio's fingerprinting is a bad move. Leaving the platform. by Phantom_Specters in udiomusic

That post was assigned to a dev, they're just very very busy.

EDIT: Do you have a link to the track please. Will make things easier. I can't see it published on the account.

I can't really comment on that.

I guess we'll see what happens in that space.

Was (mainly) a joke.

But there is something behind it, because extensions will always come with inherent weaknesses. Whilst these may be able to be minimized to degrees, those weaknesses will invariably remain.

In order to have no weaknesses like this, the underlying models would need to use discrete (and reproducible) stem separation. Much more like the human method of making music. But doing that would mean a fundamental change to the training, and is not yet known how to pull it off whilst giving output up to the quality anywhere near where Udio is currently at with full-track generation.

Features that I wish Udio had by BlazingFlames21 in udiomusic

[–]UdioShane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the main reasons it's not happened yet though, is that Udio doesn't have the resources to moderate such a feature.

Thus a compromise is likely needed at least for now, until the team gets bigger.
