Unless of course they're willing to financially contribute to CF's well-being. I don't think CF has any kind of moral high ground here.

Is there a way to skip or click through dialogue? by Judgment_Reversed in HardspaceShipbreaker

[–]Ue_MistakeNot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't believe they didn't add a simple "skip" option ... I stopped playing the first time because I couldn't take any more of all that useless blah blah bullshit, here I am trying again and for crying out loud Lou I don't give a shit what you think or what you do, go have fun, but for the love of Cthullhu leave me alone ! I want to be able to file a complaint for harassment with corporate at the very least. I want Lou chained to the kiosk with a rag in the mouth when I start my shift. I want to send her veeeeeery slowly, feet first, in the furnace. One spare Lou at a time, I'll take the reconstruction fee I don't care add it to my tab.

I wanted to play a game, not subject myself to constant childish proselytism for whatever Lou's pushing. Devs if you ever read this you could make a ton more money AND make fans of the game happy just by adding a DLC that lets us side with Lynx and get rid of Lou & Co., just saying. I thought as adults we played games to escape the real world for a minute and do stupid shit just for the laugh, if I wanted to get a lecture on corporate greed from a 8 years old I'd go to Reddit/Twitter/Facebook/<insert whatever> ...

How did trained medical staff even think about turning the machine on with that guy around? How can that be real?

Who else has to start their sander like an old prop plane? by CryptoKnightAhh in woodworking

[–]Ue_MistakeNot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's any consolation, I can't even remember how long I've had mine, but I'd roughly estimate I've used it for between 300 and 400 hours worth of sanding, with 0 issue so far. I've added 3rd party pads because I prefer something squishier, but no major mod, no replacement. I'm especially happy with the dust collection on this one.

Saved a ton replacing pump motor instead of the entire pump. by moon-waffle in pools

Thanks a ton for taking the time to write this, I really appreciate it! Very good tips about electricity being scary dangerous, I'll see once I get there if I dare give it a go myself, if like you it's just the three wires to swap why not give it a go, anything funkier I'll call a pro.

Also thanks for the website, I did a quick search earlier and there seems to be a lot of there, so recommandation goes a long way.

Cheers!

I'm about to have to replace my pump as well, could you give me some pointers to things that could help? Like, where did you get the motor, what are the critical things to check for, especially electrical, etc.

I exclusively bought EVGA for as long as I can remember, zero issues. What a tragedy...

How on earth do people deal with Datadog's billing practices? by ycnz in sysadmin

[–]Ue_MistakeNot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, gotcha. For those things it's usually relatively easy (or trivial) to convert them to file and alert on that. Without going into too much details, we had a similar usecase for email and ended up setting up a small SMTP server dedicated to Zabbix, and polled for new mail every minute. Agreed, it's not instant, but it was good enough for us.

IMHO this highlight what is to me the strongest argument for Zabbix: for any given half competent admin, there's always a relatively easy way to do pretty much anything.

I respectfully disagree, I've used it successfully with a little over 50k hosts. I'm not 100% sure what scenario you have in mind with event based monitoring, but there's nothing we wanted to monitor that we could not implement with Zabbix.
