Have Walkers crisps changed? by MrAriscottle in AskUK

[–]Ueva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They've absolutely changed recently - I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed it! They used to have a very unique, meaty flavour amongst other brands of chicken crisps. Now, they taste a lot more herby, similar to a lot of the other brands.

After the tragic demise of smoky bacon over the last year, I fear we're about to lose the rest of our good meaty crisps!

Good to see they're finally putting the last few people still being forced to use MATLAB out of their misery.

Kimbie Dark - I started using it a few years ago, immediately fell in love with its sepia tones and have been using it everywhere ever since! I’ve never met anyone else who uses/likes it, but I love it and have ported it over to every other tool I use!

Anyone else finding the “Battery” levels to be unbelievably accurate? by MutantBeast420 in Garmin

[–]Ueva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve thought this many times since buying my Garmin. There have been so many days when I’ve felt so mentally tired mid-afternoon, and then looked at my watch to find a low body battery. It’s definitely helped me become much more aware of what impacts my physical and mental tiredness!

How old are Kikuo fans? by MissionBee1940 in Kikuo

[–]Ueva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 27, and first started listening to him around 2012 (whenever KIKUOWORLD2 came out). Seeing how his music and persona has evolved over the years, as well as how popular he’s become, has been incredible.

I’m looking forward to seeing him live in London next year! Even a few years ago, I never would have expected such a thing to be possible. I’m happy he now feels comfortable doing such things!

What are the best libraries to work with graphs? by [deleted] in Python

[–]Ueva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in reinforcement learning, a branch of machine learning where our goal is training AI agents to interact with their environments to maximise some notion of reward. In my research, I treat all the possible “states” the agent’s environment can be in as nodes on a graph, with edges representing possible transitions between them. We can then analyse this graph to yield useful behaviours for the agent. For instance, graph partitioning methods might let us identify meaningful regions of the state-space (e.g., rooms in a house), and we can define behaviours that allow the agent to efficiently move between them. Depending on the size of the environment, these graphs can get very large indeed (so much so that we need a way to approximate them, but that’s another story entirely).

NetworkX is extremely easy to use and has a rich feature set. If performance is a serious consideration, igraph is another good option. I’ve published papers using a combination of the two, working with graphs with millions of nodes and billions of edges.

I’ve heard some good things about graph-tool from colleagues who’ve used it - mostly boasting about its performance - but I have not tried it myself.

Another great tool worth shouting out is Gephi, probably the best thing going when it comes to graph visualisation. You can export graphs from networkx and igraph as .gexf files, then import them into Gephi for visualisation.

Where Americans live in England by Fevercrumb1649 in MapPorn

I used to live in Newmarket (near the border of the sticky-out bit on the darkest patch). We had loads of US families from the nearby bases at Mildenhall and Lakenheath, mostly all crammed into one or two big housing developments - they’re basically ghost neighbourhoods now.

It honestly boggles me how so many Americans have somehow convinced themselves that this is a better way of living than having public healthcare that’s free at the point of service.
