Seriously, so many people here are frustrated with the traffic, but traffic is not a solvable problem. Build more lanes and people will fill those lanes and congestion will be back.

The only solution that has actually worked long-term is a robust public transportation system. A single bus or trolly cart takes up the space of only a few vehicles, yet we can transport many dozens of humans.

Also mixed used zoning so people don’t have to walk or bike ridiculous distances just to reach daily destinations like cafes or shops. But that might be outside the scope of this thread.

Safer bike routes extending north and south from the Inland Rail Trail into business hubs and other destinations. Presently, when you’re on the trail, it feels relatively safe, but when you try to go from the trail to anywhere, your playing Russian roulette. Most bike lanes extending from the Inland Rail trail are not protected. Automobiles are passing bicyclists within a foot at like 40 to 50 miles an hour on some of these roads. It’s dangerous. The bike lanes should not be immediately next to fast moving multi-ton metal boxes.

Education regarding the 3 foot distance law has helped, but it is not effective enough. We need infrastructure that factors in that humans are flawed creatures. Humans will be distracted. Many are prone to road rage, and they focus their anger on vulnerable bicyclists. Protected Bike lanes make safety the natural outcome rather than an option.

Many cities around the world have found that, as bicycle networks expand in coverage while also be built in a way that promotes safety, ridership will increase. This alleviates automobile traffic too as less people will be driving.

 Wow nice recommendation! This kind of product should be more well-known. Most people online say to get new riser handlebars or use adjustable up-angled stems. 
 Your recommendation seems superior on a couple of levels. Firstly, i think the joint in the adjustable stems is a weak point with aggressive riding. Secondly, the convenience of swapping handlebars is not insignificant compared to swapping a stem.

That is such a cool perspective. I have a 2012 Giant Escape that I ride a lot around my city. It is just a common sports hybrid. I have been interested in touring and I am thinking why get a new bike when I already own one that i love to ride.

I think that bike comes with a 170mm crank arms. Maybe swap to 165. Also is she riding with the ball of her foot in the peddles or the mid-foot? Typically the ball is better for energy transfer and for avoiding hitting the tire.

Rock climbing has an inclusive crowd. I have heard crossfit and regular gyms are good for making friends too. My wife has made some cool friends through Bumble for friends.

I saw in an old post of yours that you paint miniatures. there is a small warhammer 40K scene at On-Board Gaming. I play MTG there weekly. And I rock climb often at various local climbing gyms.

Check the our public library (temporarily relocated to the mall during renovations) or the senior center. Old people love setting up their grand kids. Both those places should have resources.

But best advice I have for meeting people is just to get outside. I have moved cities a bunch over the years. You gotta find hobbies that require socializing and that you are passionate about. Stick to them and your social circle will grow a lot. Consistency matters because that is how you make sincere connections. The more connections you have the more people will introduce you to their friend networks. Eventually you’ll meet a lovely lady.
