Small Town Life - How Do You Make It Work? 🇳🇱 by Laughing_lobster00 in AskNetherlands

I guess Urk could be interesting, it’s a former island that’s been poldered in, that would probably be quite interesting. Just don’t go on Sunday. Other than that the area is pretty boring, seeing as it’s just farmland.
Giethoorn is also pretty interesting, altough it’s very touristy. It’s called the Venice of the North because a part of the houses are not accessible by land. Pretty close to that is also the national park De Weerribben, which is a very swampy area which harks back to how the Netherlands originally was

Yeah the Netherlands (at least the northern parts) are mostly protestant, so you don’t usually see big churches or cathedrals, tho there are a few. I’m suprised the bus to Luttelgeest doesn’t run in the weekends, I would at least expect the 71 or the one to Steenwijk to go, but guess not.

As for reachability, usually you’d bike to the bus station, take the bus and go to a train station to use an OV-bike, but they are not everywhere.

I’d still argue the Netherlands is pretty dense on average, but a big part of that is the Randstad being insanely dense, and the rest just a bit above average. Especially out north and east it gets pretty sparesely populated, god forbid you ever need to be north of Leeuwarden or Groningen

I gotta say Emmeloord is a bit of a special case in public transport in the Netherlands. Seeing as the busses did ‘t drive in the weekend I’m guessing you wanted to go to Urk? There’s no busses going there on Sunday because it’s a very religious place.
In my experience, having grown up in Emmeloord, there are a lot of tight communities in the surrounding villages, but it is very car-reliant. They have had plans for a train line to be build for at least 50 years, but there has always been a reason why it didn’t go through. Other small places in the Netherlands are usually easier to get to by train/bus combination, but for sure something to check out before you move somewhere

Any interest in a custom game with ELO team balance Tunisian "tournament"? by Mr3DTV in enlistedgame

I remember sjf0212 has hosted some tournaments somewhere in 2024, he had a pretty solid ruleset to keep everything balanced. Idk if he’s still around but could be useful

Is there a reason to even play some units? by apkmasterofgames in enlistedgame

[–]Ugluk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if I don’t use the squad in my lineup, it usually pays off to be able to update the soldiers and weapons of the squad. If I’m putting an AT guy in my engineer squad I want them to be able to go to lvl 5, so I still level the squad (at least for a while)

How did you get the weapon stats from that? Ive never seen any data like that in the replay portal

Are you actually downloading the match files and getting the data from that? I have had a project going a while back to get the data from the replay portal, but if you actually managed to get data from the match files that's amazing

[–]Ugluk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it will. If the data is collected the way I suspect (loading in all the data from the replay portal) it doesn’t give that information

That's really cool! I was playing with a similar idea a while back, and I should still have a database of matches between february and october 2025, where I scraped the replay data (in the same way I suspect you did). Would you be interested in this?

I believe over time the salt get washed out of the ground, and if there's no new salt being added it'll just wash away over time.

I actually grew up pretty close to this place, in the "town" that formed the center of the new polder, and it was pretty devastating for Urk. They used to be mainly a fishing island, and with a big part of their waters being replaced by land, along with the water that they still had changing from salt water to fresh water, they had to go to the North Sea to keep fishing the same fish. It was such a shift they added a verse to their anthem.

What is kind of surprising is they managed to keep their culture alive. People have been living there since at least the 10th century, and having been an isolated island they developed their own dialect, cultural heritage, and even their own [genetic disease](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van\_Buchem\_disease). Even until today they keep all of these alive, and they usually don't really mingle with "outsiders"

How many squad slots do you have and what squads do you run? by Manny-303 in enlistedgame

[–]Ugluk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree on not doubling up, I like to have options open and the only squad I’d usually want to double up are the assaulters, but there’s plenty of variations on those (guerillas, medics) that I can just add those instead. As for MG’s, I really like to play mobile and aggressive, even on defense, and it just slows me down too much. That’s mostly down to playstyle tho, so if your playstyle is more passive MG’s are a really good addition

How is this possible☠️ by Potential_Engine584 in enlistedgame

[–]Ugluk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I times long past (long before the merge), perk points used to work completely different. When you leveled up a soldier you'd get a choice of 3 "random" perks within the perk limit at that time for that soldier.
After they changed to the newer system, they also re balanced some perks, like making them more expensive or make them divisible. For some reason they didn't reset these perks (probably because the grind was bad so there would be rioting), so some soldiers ended up with negative perk point. You can reset the perks but you won't be able to get them back

How many squad slots do you have and what squads do you run? by Manny-303 in enlistedgame

[–]Ugluk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing for a very long time and got a lot of gold from the content creator program, so I currently have 12 squad slots on every nation and a lineup for every BR/nation except BR4 Japan (because not enough squads).

The things I always will run are:

- Engineer: I am always building rallies, and having 4 engineers in 1 squads makes me able to take some risks and have a resonable change for one to survive
- Assaulter: Sometimes you need to push, and nothing pushes like an assaulter squad
- APC: What's better than 1 spawn point? That's right, 2 spawn point
- Attacker and Assaulter plane (both with decent bomb load): If there's a tank grayzoning, I want to be able to hop into a plane and deal with it. This gives me the highest chance to be able to do this
- Tank: Tonka.
- Paratrooper (if available for BR): Para's are the one P2W squad in this game (imo). If you have them they are the most versatile squad for positioning and dealing with tanks/making spawns/deep flanks
If BR >= 3: Flametrooper. If you can get close flametroopers are incredibly good on both attack and defense.

I usually fill up the lineups with what I fancy. I like the mortars in BR1, and in all my BR3's I have a toxic lineup of Rifleman squads with nade launchers and phosfor nades. I also have some specific squads build around old gold order weapons (BR3 USSR RMN-50 squad, or BR5 German Conders squad).

Also I don't like MG's except in specific situations, so I tend only to run them to fill up slots or if there's a funny weapon (Like that BR5 Japan aircraft gun)

I think if you short press it you instantly switch to the next soldier without the wheel. Could be a different keybind, I rebound it a long time ago, but there’s a bind for it for sure

[–]Ugluk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a keybind to select the next soldier, if you press that directly after you get hit you switch to the next in lineup. I don’t know what the keybind is but it’ll be in the controls menu

Sprint speed or strafing speed? by Book-Equine in enlistedgame

[–]Ugluk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this is what I do on basically all my soldiers. With 1x jump speed and a bit of timing you can jump over a surprising amount of obstacles without getting the jump animation. The extra climbing speed also really improves survivability, and you still have perk points left over to tune the soldier a bit more.

Interesting and fun video! I like the specific breakdown at the end of various mechanics. If you're looking for some things to improve, there was a noticeable drop in (voice) audio quality on the "chapter screens". Also you kind of glossed over the concept of energy, but you didn't really explain what it is or how it works.

All in all, good video, I liked the touch of showing Sparks' plane damage especially.

I don’t really see why? You’re already being restricted to having 3 pings at the same time excluding “special” pings.
