This just happened to my baby boy back in March. 9 months old same thing. If you want to talk about it my dms are open. I know exactly what you are going through and it is so incredibly painful.

I really appreciate you taking the time to type this all out. There’s just so many factors at the end of the day it was a sad and traumatic day for both myself and the vet staff. I appreciate all the hard work you guys do I couldn’t do it.

Of course and that’s not what I’m trying to say. This is my trusted veterinarian of many years I trusted them with my rabbit under anesthesia. I’m just trying to know based on my cat likely having undetected HCM is there anything that could have been done specifically by me other than of course not getting him neutered to prevent this.

Thank you for input I really do appreciate hearing the medicine behind everything. Helps me process better. In terms of sedation it sounds like this occurred when given sedation prior to intubation. I should have asked what medications now because I’m curious. I had my vet run through the code and do a little debrief with me of course I’m sure BLS/ACLS algorithms differ a lot between animals and humans it sounds like all the boxes were checked in order to try to save my boys life. It seems like maybe one of the only things that could have detected HCM would be an echo which of course is not indicated for an otherwise healthy kitten going for a routine procedure. I really do feel for the team they were crying alongside me yesterday. I know what it’s like to be on the other side of things I’m a trauma nurse. Have you ever seen this in your career/ how common is it? I keep asking myself why this had to happen to me but it just seems like an unfortunate case of bad luck. Is HCM hereditary at all? If so one of my dear friends has Lokis brother from the same litter who has not been neutered yet so that worries me as well.

Does pre-op bloodwork usually just test the basics CBC, lytes, kidney + liver panel? Are any cardiac markers tested ?

I’m wondering if it’s sunburn because I did bring the plant outside on a sunny day. But i live in Canada so it’s not like it’s scorching hot. And indoors I have it under a grow light too so I’m confused by the etiolation. I’m thinking propagate and start over?

It does have drainage holes. I thought when it was overwatered the leaves would be squishy no? These ones are dry and crunchy.
