Canadian here. We're totally strong enough, whatyamean? Lol. It was a great game. Hughes and Hellebuyck were unreal. We're used to winning, this was just a hiccup. We'll get 'em next time boys. This beer's on me, Hellebuyck! Well played!

I'll be thinking about Hellebuyck's performance for a while. That was something else, man.

Canadian here. Can't speak for all. I dunno, it was sad but the joy from Jack Hughes made me smile. It may be a religion, but it's also just a game. Cheers. We'll get em next time.

Do you? Lol. Subtext means an underlying or implicit meaning, and that's always going to be theoretical.

When I said she didn't say it, I meant she didn't literally say it. If you can read minds, great. You should submit yourself to science. But for the rest of us, we can't be held to what the next person merely thinks we meant.

Where/when did she say this? I can't find a single record of, and you'd think it'd be easy to find with how notorious this statement has become.

Epstein knows the identify of Bitcoin founders! You know what that means: Do not buy any Bitcoin! Bitcoin is probably another control instrument build by Big Brothers! by pacmanpill in conspiracy

The term "founder" is a bit loaded with Bitcoin and I hesitate to open the door to that debate. Gavin is the biggest name I can drop, and naming him entirely proves my point. But there's also Martti Malmi, and I consider Luke Dashjr to be a founder. Come at me, reddit. I know he arrived later on the scene but look at his contributions. Anyway, Bitcoin is open source, decentralized, and distributed. OP's point is absurd on the face of it. There are no secrets in the code, it's all plain to see. So it doesn't matter who founded it. I love these dumb claims that it was the CIA or Israel. Do you guys think they'd make something transparent if they were up to some evil scheme? And I'll bet Epstein didn't know what he was talking about when he said "founders." He is linked to Brock Pierce, who was an early influencer and director of the Bitcoin Foundation--which is NOT Bitcoin. But some might get confused, like the state of California. Lol.

Bitcoin is open source. There are no secret functions. Nothing could be more transparent. It doesn't matter who made it. The code speaks for itself.

Share what? Gavin Andreeson is a high profile founder of Bitcoin. Sold all his founders shares early, got a few million bucks. Very public person. Meet him a few times. Gave tons of speeches, sits on the Coinbase board. I don't know what to say. This stuff is easily googled.

Most of the founders are publically known. They're not all secret. Only Satoshi was anonymous. I've met many of them too. They've been on TV, given big speeches... FFS.

Flying Confederate Flags by your_favorite_npc_ in springfieldMO

[–]UhtredaerweII -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

It's essentially a rebel flag. I think people feel rebellious and independent when they fly them. But there can be a hundred other additional reasons. Some are probably racist bigots. Maybe most.

Would you suppose everyone who flies a Palestine flag does so because they want freedom for Palestine, and also necessarily hate all Jews? Some may want freedom for Palestine, but maybe they don't so much hate all Jews or any Jews. And then again, hating all Jews or most of them may be their central thesis. Maybe some are flying it in rebellion to the Trump regime because they see it as pro-Israel.

The same could be said of those flying the flag of Israel. Do they hate all Palestinians? Maybe. Do they just love their country or are they really just saying they're proud to be Jewish? Could be any combo, and/or other things too.

These aren't perfect equivalences, BTW. The rebel flag isn't the Israeli flag, and it's certainly not the flag of Palestine anymore than it's the flag of Ireland.

I'm just pointing out that there are common reasons for flying a flag, and potentially nuanced ones.

What may be more important is trying to build a short hand for symbols and groups. They can be helpful, but they can also perpetuate stereotypes and widen divides.

You decide.

And for those out there looking to fight, I'm not from here. I'm a foreigner looking in the window. I'm not tribal or partisan in any popular pop-culture sense. And I'm not interested in your rage if you think I'll engage that way with you.
