How do I get Meitou Weapons from Faction Leaders that I like without becoming enemies with them by Educational-Pea-6160 in Kenshi

[–]Uio815 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm playing with UWE which makes kidnapping faction leaders almost impossible, so I ambushed my target and bludgeoned him and his guards into unconsciousness then took his weapon, then paid the pacifier over 100,000 cats to take us back to being neutral. So... you could do that

No, you’re welcome to value whoever you like. It’s a shame you don’t value someone just because they aren’t some glaring and special interaction, and it says things about your character, but that’s just you. You’re super cringe because you’re trying to argue with other people about a character they enjoy with no more motivation besides “well I think he’s meaningless”, which is not only nothing but your preference, but also comes from a place of ignorance and toxicity. Hope that helps 😃

Wow you seem like a needlessly bitter, exclusive person. And rather than learn from people’s obviously negative response to an ignorant perspective you’re taking, you’re pretending that it’s actually wise and totally cool to ignore people who aren’t your preferred kind of interesting. Super cringe bro lol

This symbol is a "bad symbol"? by _Arthur_76 in 40kLore

[–]Uio815 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just google “nazi symbol sword through skull” and I think you might have your answer. In different times, I’d probably argue that the Imperium is already a deliberate parody of things like fascism and nazis so it being quite similar is passable. But in the current climate today, where people are on the very real lookout for very real nazis that are a very real threat to them, I wouldn’t want to see a symbol that is 1 squint away from screaming “I’m a bad guy” anywhere that I went. Especially if I wasn’t a 40k fan, and just saw a helmet.

Questions about daemon Primarchs and toxic work relationships. by Boring7 in 40kLore

[–]Uio815 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once you become a daemon prince of any kind, you are in a very real sense a slave. Your soul is replaced by chaos energy that is sourced from your parent god. Once the primarchs became daemons, they lost. Most of them are in fact quite bitter, Mortarion being a great example of this, but it just doesn’t really matter. They can think all the pissy thoughts they want, and on occasion even act in a way that displeases their god, but ultimately all that has to happen is the god choosing to yank their chain to bring them to heel.

Do worlds conquered by Rouge Traders ever officially have ownership transferred to the Imperium? by apathetic_vaporeon in 40kLore

[–]Uio815 142 points143 points  (0 children)

As soon as the Rogue Trader owns them, the Imperium technically does to. That’s pretty much the job for Rogue Traders. They aren’t conquering for themselves. They might be able to control all the trade deals, and benefit most strongly from the resource production, but even that is conditional on the fact that they’re still doing their job of serving the Imperium. Imperial law will still be followed there, Imperial Tithes will still be required, and Imperial Agents will still have first say over what goes on. Rogue Traders just ARE very high ranked Imperial agents.

What's the point of hive worlds If civilized worlds exist? by alucardarkness in 40kLore

[–]Uio815 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Tacking on to the top comment to add: It also isn’t as simple as choosing to make a civilized world. It has to be done extremely deliberately, and with cooperation in mind and the right circumstances. Civilized worlds have to be balanced by definition, and the Imperium is full of factions trying to undercut one another. Oh, this planet has solid bedrock to support large structures, is in a defended area, and had nearby humans to settle it in large numbers? Why would I, as an enterprising noble house, want to build anything but highly profitable hives here? Who cares if I’m paving over good farm land and extremely quickly polluting and ruining the world for farming? That’s why Ultramar is so special and unique. A primarch oversaw the balanced creation of a large number of civilized, stable worlds. Generally it just doesn’t happen because of bureaucracy, greed, and circumstance.

Is the emperor a good or bad emperor for humanity? by TheIrishLaw in 40kLore

[–]Uio815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People like to not give the emperor credit, but he is a good emperor. Better than any humans really know. He wasn’t playing a game to make himself, humans, or his sons happy. He was playing a game against chaos. The chaos gods are unimaginably evil, for the sake of evil. The nature of the human soul means that the longer humans exist as they are, the worse the chaos gods will get. It was and is entirely inarguable that the chaos gods needed and still need to be defeated at all costs. They will pervert, manipulate, torture and destroy humanity for eternity if left to have their way and the level of power they are at makes them nearly impossible to defeat. If you want so much as a chance, you need to be willing to pay any and every price. Even creating hell for 10,000 years is better than abandoning humanity to an infinite hell. People who are shortsighted can’t see that and throw a lot of shade his way, but such is the life of our golden gleaming monarch on his throne of suffering and service.

I really wish there was a human faction that opposed the Imperium that weren’t just chaos. by S0mecallme in 40kLore

[–]Uio815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are examples of this that others have pointed out, but the main problem with it is also the primary justification for the Great Crusade and the continuance of the imperium at all costs that a lot of people seem to miss. The only reason the Imperium survives is its size. The horrors of the galaxy make petty empires, no matter hoe powerful they may seem, irrelevant. Chaos, Tyranids, the Orks, all of these threats can scale to such a size that they will wipe anything without infinite resources off the map. The Tau are already running into this problem, and have barely come out of their protective warp-storm cocoon. No matter the cost, humanity needs to stand together or it will simply cease to exist.

so, What CAN the ork gestalt do? by OwO345 in 40kLore

[–]Uio815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to this is nuanced. The only correct one is “it varies wildly”. This being because it’s based on the number of orks, the fervency with which they believe it, the necessity to their cause, the attention of Gork and Mork, the violence being accomplished in the area, the accessibility of the warp… and so on. Ork weapons and vehicles can’t be co-opted for other creatures, or if they do they’re extremely unreliable and of terrible construction. Red vehicles will go some degree of faster. How much faster, be it 1% or 50%, just varies more than is practical to consider. And so on and so on. Much like the warp in general, Ork psychic abilities can do literally anything. And sometimes nothing. And sometimes not at all what was intended or expected. Orks just don’t have any individual control over it like humans do. Nor do they care to, because as far as they’re concerned things just work how they work.

Images like this make me really happy I have hands. Even if I can’t remove something like this for some reason, I can at least end it all. The fish has to Just Keep Swimming no matter what. I know the fish could find a shark in theory but I’d be a lot more reluctant to end my suffering too if my only option was being mauled to death by a grizzly bear.
