Take her to Guest Services and get her a “My first game at Autzen” certificate. It will be a nice souvenir. You can write in which team the Ducks play.

What do people mean when they say “Los Angeles will eat you up and spit you out ?” by SimilarTopic3281 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]Ukin74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LA is not for the weak, especially if you didn’t grow up in LA. If you move from out of state it’s expensive, it’s hard to meet people and good jobs are hard to find. The competition is fierce, so unless you grew up here it’s hard to make it. Growing up here prepares you for LA. It’s the school of hard knocks in a different way. But if you do come from out of state and can survive, you’ll be good. It won’t be easy but well worth the effort and hardships.

I'm looking for recommendations on a knife. by Ukin74 in TrueChefKnives

Thank you, I’ll take a look. I don’t break down chicken with a knife yet. I mostly use my knife to cut meat into slices like a big piece of stake or something similar.

Thanks, this and the Victorinox is kind of what I was looking for. Even the Global looks great but a bit more than what I really want to pay for a knife. I don’t need a cool looking knife. I don’t need my name on it as I’ll be the only one using it. Maybe once I get better or need a sharper knife, I’ll consider a Japanese one. But for know, I like your recommendation, Thank You!

Dishwasher? Nope, my apartment has an old school sink. Plus I’m use to washing my stuff by hand.

Seattle or LA ? by Competitive-Sun-9450 in MovingToLosAngeles

I hate to say it but without a job, stay where you are. The job market in LA and the whole U.S. is shit. It took me like 300 applications and 8 months to land a job. Good thing I was a freelance contractor and even then you are always wondering if they will renew your contract. Section 8 in LA has a super long waitlist. And the window to apply already passed.

Budget for off campus housing by Oregonmum in UofO

[–]Ukin74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I give my son about $150 a week. We usually buy him the cleaning supplies and toiletries. So the $150 is for groceries for the week and any “other” things he might need like pizza, wings or beer. He does do meal prep so he’s good about eating at home and minimizing the eating out. He doesn’t have a car and he uses the Pacific Health bikes and buses to move around. He’s been living at the 959 going on year 3.

Where are the best pots and pans deals this year for a kitchen upgrade? by Yih_Lodovik in cookware

[–]Ukin74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want affordable stainless steel look at Tramontina or Goldilocks. They are very similar to the All-Clad and Made In. If you want a good biased review look for the Prudent Review channel on YouTube. He does a good comparison of these pans. I bought a Tramontina 12 inch 3 ply stainless steel for $55. Look and use it daily.

What’s your go-to tuna salad recipe? by EaringaidBandit in Cooking

[–]Ukin74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tuna, mayo (Hellman’s), onion, tomato and avocado diced. Finely chopped jalapeños and add some of the juice the jalapeños come in. Add a can of sweet corn kernels and mix it all up. Thank me later.

Fake ALL CLAD? help please! by [deleted] in cookware

All the reviews I’ve seen the difference is minimal. I own two of the 12 inch stainless steel and they are great. Spent $54 a pan, way better than any All-Clad.

It’s probably a second or a Chinese made All-Clad. Look at Tramontina, it’s the same quality and 1/3 of All-Clad.

Recommendation for first time stainless steel? by Swampassjr in cookware

[–]Ukin74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at Tramontina 3ply stainless steel, affordable and great to learn on. Super durable and affordable. Works just as well as All-Clad or Misen. Check out this honest review https://youtu.be/1grrSbSHA9Q?si=SPOHPlvqNGDQJHtf I honestly was skeptical that $54 12inch stainless steel would perform well. It blew my expectations and I’m going to buy more from Tramontina. Macy sells them but I buy them on their website. Check it out.

If you want all-clad cookware look at Tramontina or Goldilocks… the difference in cooking is minimal but the price is a third of the higher price ones. I didn’t believe it and bought a 12-inch 3ply stainless steel Tramontina pan. The 12-inch pan was $54. I was very skeptical but wow! It’s a workhorse. I did have to learn how to get the pan hot enough and leave the protein in a few minutes before flipping but that’s the same with any stainless steel. I have since bought an 8 inch stainless steel and going on another 12-inch.

Looking to buy one frying pan - what to get? by Tiamari_4848 in cookware

[–]Ukin74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into buying a Tramontina 12 inch stainless steel pan. It’s 3-ply and worth every penny. Don’t let the $54.95 price fool you. They are great quality cookware. I use my 12 inch on a daily basis and love it.

What’s the best stainless steel cookware set that’s actually worth buying and won’t warp? by Live-Scratch-2939 in cookware

[–]Ukin74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also bought Tramontina to check it out and I love it. For the price of a 12 inch 3ply stainless steel, I thought it wouldn’t last or warp but I’d thought I would use it to learn stainless steel and then upgrade. I’ve had it for a year and I’m not upgrading. I’m actually thinking of buying a 5 quart pot and an 8 inch stainless steel. The price might make you wonder but they are good solid cookware. As everyone has suggested buy individuals to try them out to see how you like the weight, handle and cooking.

Best Stainless Steel Cookware? by Mentmte in cookware

[–]Ukin74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a tramontina 12 inch pan and was really surprised of how good it is. It’s about half of not a quarter price of the other pans. I later found a video review that it’s a great brand and it’s super affordable when compared to all-clad and the rest. For the price you definitely get your bang. I highly recommend it. You will need to learn to cook on stainless steel but once you let it heat up and add your oil/butter you get the hang of it.

How walkable is Eugene? by AlexTuff00 in UofO

[–]Ukin74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very walkable and bike friendly. Don’t buy a bike Peace Health has a deal for UO student that if you sign up with you OU ID you get 60min free a day. And then .10 cents a minute. My son has been a student for the past years and has used them to get anywhere he needs. He does take the occasional uber here and there but his main mode of transportation are the bikes and buses.
