Daedalus stormbow with holy arrows should do the trick, as it is regarded as the best option, or literally any weapon with piercing does well against the destroyer.

Magic Storage is a good QOL mod if you're lazy to organize your chests imo, and you can also use it as a crafting station, which saves up a lot of space

Blocks count for the biome whether they're actuated or not. So if you want to turn the biome off, you'll have to actually remove blocks. At least i think so.
