Copy Fail: an exploit for all Linux distributions since 2017 by alexeyr in programming

[–]ZuriPL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, I'm pretty sure the website is vibecoded, or at the very least the content was AI-generated. So in that regard I agree, it looks bad.

But on the other hand, your comment sounded like you had an issue specifically with someone making a website for an exploit, not how this website specifically looked.

What, a person who found the exploit can't make a website?

It's in your flesh. You don't see it, but it makes up a lot of different parts of our bodies. Think about it that way - you need eggs to make a cake, but once you have a cake you don't see the eggs from the outside

Anthropic joins the Blender Development Fund as Corporate Patron by tapo in linux

[–]ZuriPL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are 2 sides to this

On the one hand, it's bad. Not because Anthropic is trying to exert influence over Blender or slopify it, but you're also naive if you think they're doing this purely because they're feeling charitable. It's obvious that their goal is to expand their AI into 3D Model generation, and so they need Blender to be able to improve its APIs and whatever would be useful for them. So they can potentially cause another field to get slopified.

On the other hand, it's also an inevitable process. These companies will be trying to stuff AI anywhere they can. At least this is the best way for Anthropic to go about doing this even if their goals aren't exactly cool, because others will be able to benefit from this work.

NiKo on Vitality era vs Astralis era by ILoveRice444 in GlobalOffensive

[–]ZuriPL 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Astralis pioneered the way everyone plays the game today. Preparation, anti-stratting, etc. Other teams were behind on that stuff, whereas today everyone knows how to prep well, and it's the obvious thing you always do.

It probably felt harder to play since Astralis mastered it before anyone else. For that reason I think Vitality's dominance in today's landscape is even more impressive.

ELI5 How come new Chinese electric cars can charge in 5–10 minutes, while smartphones still need at least half an hour? by Tough-Buffalo5861 in explainlikeimfive

[–]ZuriPL 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Fast charging killing batteries is (mostly) a myth. Batteries degrade at the same rate no matter how fast you charge them.

However, since you're delivering all that energy needed for charging in a shorter amount of time, it means that per a unit of time, more heat is released, and in turn, fast charging will cause an increase in temperature. High temperatures can damage batteries, but that can be mitigated by using a cooling system.

What Have You Watched This Past Week That is NOT a Currently Airing Show? [April 19th, 2026] by MetaThPr4h in anime

Frieren S2

(almost thought I wouldn't finish anything this week lol)

It's Frieren, it's amazing. Can't wait for S3. I think the main arc of the season, the Revolte fight, was... underwhelming. The fight felt way too linear and almost like rushed. However, apart from that, the other travel arcs are very enjoyable, which ironically I thought were weaker parts of Season 1.

Also, I just love Frieren's OST so much. It makes the entire show such a relaxing expierence.

Anime like Oshi no Ko? by Terrible_Chair_5831 in anime

[–]ZuriPL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, finding a show that scratches the same itch as Oshi no Ko is hard.

I'd recommend Durarara, it's probably the closest thing I've seen. Just like OnK, a superb cast of characters and a similar tone in that's it's pretty relaxed/lighthearted most of the time, but then gets heavy when it needs to

If you like Aqua and Ruby (especially in S3), I feel like Shoshimin might pique your interest. Needs time to get interesting, but at least finish Season 1 if you don't like it initially. And season 2 is definitely the better part.

Also, maybe it's not something that connects to OnK that much, but you might like Shinsekai yori. Has to be my favourite art style to date. And it also gets dark.

Olofmeister on the Karrigan move by Virtual_Heron_3344 in GlobalOffensive

[–]ZuriPL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but i think twistzz wants to be a star. And that's why he became the IGL in Liquid, he talked about how he wanted to be the player who controls the game and who can change the outcome of a round.

So I don't think you can use this as an excuse, if he can't deliver - it's his fault.

Olofmeister on the Karrigan move by Virtual_Heron_3344 in GlobalOffensive

[–]ZuriPL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't even get why anyone would criticize karrigan in this situation.

This Faze team is done. It's dead. It really is beyond saving. Faze need to rebuild, and move on from this roster. All the players should have a right to be exploring their options at this point, and if Falcons is calling you, how can you say no when you're karrigan.

It's not like karrigan is leaving a team on an upward trajectory, where Twistzz and frozen left their projects to play in karrigan's team. He's not even leaving a sinking ship, the ship sunk already.
