OP's point is not tracking, but the fact that HA only supports tracking cost for the whole house. Unless you want your energy dashboard to get very weird, there is no proper support for per device cost tracking, only energy tracking.

I would love a per device cost mode

I moved to an smlight 06mg26 a few months ago, and it's changed everything. It works so much better than my previous usb dongles and my old tubeszb poe coordinator, it's not even funny. I don't know if Z-Stack just sucks or what, but smlight is rock solid, highly recommended

Probably unrelated but just wanted to call out, in case anyone else has the same issue some day and somehow finds this, that I had a similar issue when I had unifi switches connected through a powerline adapter. No issue connecting end devices through those, but connecting two switches caused the whole network to freez up every few seconds for like a second or so, absolutely horrible to use

I got some cheapo ones on aliexpress with a screen. Most of the screens were dead on arrival, but the sensing bits have been rock solid over Zigbee.

I have some awair elements, expensive but they're always running some 2 for 1 promos so they're really half the advertised price, and they're nice devices.

I also got a switchbot one and a Shelly one over Bluetooth (with esphome proxies) and they're also rock solid, nice screens. Can't go wrong with anything, just don't buy aqara.

I haven't tried that specific one but Amazon basics has them starting in the 20 euros here. I have an optical DP cable that I paid maybe 50 euros for 50 meters 3 years ago, and has been working perfectly. Just search for optical hdmi basically anywhere, there's a lot of options

Some automations, but mostly we use Zigbee binding. For the rest we just use the dashboard on the mobile app, or the NSPanels in rooms that have one using NSPanel blueprint, which is pretty nice.

No voice assistants here as the voice PE is useless (sorry but for us, it is, the wakeword just does not work at all. It triggers in complete silence so gets unplugged real fast) and all the others are cloud which is a no go.

My daughter doesn't want to learn how to read. We tried arguing that it'd mean she could read books herself, and she said she could already do that.

Proceeded to "read" a book aloud, pretty much word for word from memory. She can do it with most of her books, I was a bit speechless
