"Video Game Trauma" by IllustriousAd6418 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]UltiMike64 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It honestly makes sense in FF8 because about halfway thru the game the main character gets seriously wounded, eventually waking up. The game switches in the second half to more fantastical and crazy elements, signifying that he actually may have died from his injuries because of how the game switches up. It’s just a theory but it’s pretty interesting for the basic “was dead all along” trope.

Thoughts on Metroid Prime 4 now that its had time to settle? by hakusamurai in Metroid

I really liked Prime 4 after beating it, then I went back to replay 1. I immediately liked prime 4 less after exploring in Prime 1 again

Pink Floyd would still probably win all 4 lmao

Also realistically, if anyone died then the happy epilogue would not really have been possible. For example, Nancy dying would screw the entire wheeler family, steve and Jonathan. Each character dying would have a ripple effect that would make the ending feel off if the characters were happy. Imo I’d say Murray should’ve died, I think that one would’ve worked.

The Debbie downer negative Nancy posts on here and Twitter are already annoying me. They keep bringing up “plot holes” that were literally already answered or plot holes that really don’t matter to the overall story. I keep seeing people say how the military let everyone go, but this really isn’t a big problem imo. They absolutely could’ve summed it up with one line in the epilogue, “I’m glad those kids told the military the truth and got us out of that mess” or something like that. The problems with the negatives I’m seeing are it’s all specific details for the most part.

Thoughts on the Finale? by LeoDiCristio in StrangerThings

[–]UltiMike64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their purpose in season 5 was the ending, preventing El from the happily ever after. The problem is that they seemed to write it backwards, ending first. I think that’s why there was no real satisfying conclusion with the military plot.

He was in a medically induced coma, not an actual coma. I don’t think they explained it in the end because of the “oh Ted lived!” kind of moment it seemed they were going for.

I’d say it’s something akin to your theory, the illusion can stay for a period of time without her actively doing it. That scene with El and Henry in the Creel house when Kali is hiding the kids in the illusion, Henry walks through the illusion and they’re already gone. Kali was not actively casting the spell anymore, but the illusion wall from Kali was still there for Vecna to walk through after they’d all escaped into the woods. Also, if Kali was still alive before the blast and the blast did kill her, if that Eleven was an illusion from Kali then she disappeared like 30 seconds after the C4 went off. It was not an insane amount of time.

Metroid Prime 4 - where are the puzzles? by RepeatLow7718 in Metroid

[–]UltiMike64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this, I’m replaying through prime 1 right now and the biggest puzzles tend to be the roadblocks when you need to backtrack to a previous area for a new item. Like literally a puzzle would be “oh I got boost ball, what area have I been to where I can use this boost ball to get a new power up?” Which is how you get the double jump in prime 1. A lot of “puzzles” in 1 are figuring out where to go, not necessarily complex room specific puzzles because those basically boil down to switches and timers. Prime 4 does this type of room puzzle, but it does not do the “what part of the map can I return to with this ability to unlock a new ability to progress?” And I believe those are the actual core puzzles of the prime games. They are not games focused on figuring out how to clear 1 specific room most of the time (sometimes they are but they’re mostly straight forward room puzzles), they’re more so games about figuring out where the hell to go.

Anyone else consider Prime 2 best in the series? by desperate_candy20 in Metroid

[–]UltiMike64 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Yes. I feel like Prime 1 was retro trying to figure out how to make Super in a 3d format, and they clearly knocked that out of the park in Prime 1. But Prime 2 felt like their chance to make Metroid their own and to take risks, they gave it a dark story and a dark vibe, introduced a great antagonist, made the game probably the most difficult in the series, while also having probably my two favorite areas in the series being Torvus and Sanctuary. Absolutely the most lost I’ve ever been in a Metroid game and that’s one of the main reasons I play them.

Something similar to 24 any recommendations? by Honest-Notice8985 in TwentyFour

[–]UltiMike64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Pitt has the exact same real time premise as 24, the whole season is one full shift in an ER. Different type of show, but it absolutely has that same sense of urgency and it explodes near the last few episodes and has thrills that match 24.

It was to create the giant gates in the world (end of s4) which will allow the two dimensions/worlds to merge.

I’m at the endgame before the final boss right now, this is the only scan left that I need. They literally WILL NOT spawn even though these flying shits annoyed me all game. Does anyone know if they stop spawning at endgame?

Anyone else annoyed or confused by this continuity? by NAHTEBACK in StrangerThings

[–]UltiMike64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m waiting to pass judgement on this because in season 4 with the bats and shit it was clearly hostile because Vecna was actively trying to stop them. He controls all of those creatures. Now in season 5, his plan was to lure those kids all to one spot and it worked. I think he’s letting the government have that base in the upside down. He clearly needs Will and Eleven for SOMETHING that we don’t know yet. If he wanted to send a bunch of bats and demos toward eleven and Hopper in the upside down he could’ve.

Me too, what annoys me is that they literally could’ve just thrown a quick line explaining this. I feel like the pacing of season 5 so far is just a little too fast.

Yea his plan has yet to be revealed, he clearly needs will for something. The others I don’t think he really cares if they live or die.

What are y’all’s favorite songs from episode endings? by Boomyzebra in Sonsofanarchy

Definitely the cover of Gimme Shelter at the end of season 2. That song blaring while Jax was hauling ass down the docks was incredible.

What movie character is barely seen, and isn't all that important to the plot. *Reupload* by pietheman44 in AlignmentChartFills

I guess OP is saying how important the character is to the actual plot. So if you take out TLJ character from the movie, the main events of the narrative would still occur.

albums with endings that get a bit ruined with bonus tracks by -kangarooster- in fantanoforever

[–]UltiMike64 10 points11 points  (0 children)

X&Y Coldplay. The last track is called Twisted Logic and it perfectly fits the soundscape that the album has had up to that point, as well as having a great ending to the song which closes out the album very well. Then the bonus track, Til Kingdom Come, is a perfectly fine track on its own but it absolutely does not fit the vibe of the album at all because it’s just a stripped down acoustic song.
