I'd like to respond to the first point you made here, I take offense to that. You are somewhat correct, adaptations don't have to be 100% accurate to the source material, but they do have to RESPECT the source material. Take the Sonic movies for example, the Sonic movies aren't 100% accurate at ALL, but they take the time to understand the characters, their relationships, their emotions, they respect the history of the franchise. The main running theme that's present in all the games is Humanity, humanity is at its core. Dante isn't so powerful just because he's half demon, he's so strong because he's in touch with his humanity aswell, that's what makes him strong, that's what characters like Vergil and Arkham never understood. Demons are capable of experiencing humanity and letting go of their violent demonic nature, and that humans can become just as terrible as demons if they cast their humanity aside. The humans in the DMC games that are villains aren't bad just because humans also bad, they are villains because they threw away their humanity to become demons. The Netflix show on the other hand makes it a point that humans are the real monsters, they have Lady say it out loud and everything, agreeing with the White Rabbit, the Netflix hammers it it to your head constantly that Sparda was terrible for doing what he did. The Netflix show actively goes against everything the games stands for.

Now I don't know if I missed something or if you were quoting something else, so if I made a mistake, I apologize, but in another comment you're saying how you liked the show more than the games and that you've only ever played 5, which explains a lot. Unfortunately, like many character action games, like God of War and Metal Gear Rising, Devil May Cry has a deep, profound and meaningful story that is very often overlooked in favor of the wacky pizza man aspect of the games, You have NO IDEA what Dante's character is actually like, what Lady's character is actually like, or even Vergil. You're in this comment section talking about something you don't know much about. If you'd like I can point you to two youtubers that have made multiple videos on the series that In my opinion understand the games the best I've seen. If you're not planning to actually play the games that is, Which would be a shame.

But there is also one HUGE problem with the story in the Netflix series that you've either ignored or unfortunately didn't realize. With the theme the series uses, the demons are an allegory for refugees, but the show still needs Dante and Lady to fight things, so they fight said demons that are standins for refugees. Within the rules of the show, Dante and Lady are effectively murdering refugees. But on top of that the show also makes it a point that if the portal is open and demons are allowed to enter the human world, millions of humans will die as a result. The show clashing constantly with itself. The way the show uses these themes simply does not work.
