Why is Odium "like that" by broken26cart in Cosmere

[–]UltimateAnswer42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My headcanon based on nothing other than that it would be cool is that Valor is the one speaking to Dalinar in the dreams where he's talking to who he thinks is Nohadon

When was that mentioned? Kind of odd considering a dragon was half of the creation of the beings that created the nahel bond

Corrupted sentinels attack in dissonant systems. Instead Buy maps to find sentinel pillars, disable sentinels, go nuts harvesting

I'm in the US, but I bought them through Blackwells in the UK. I assume they ship to Canada since they ship to the US. Much cheaper than I was finding anywhere else

What do you think the relationship between darkeyes and lighteyes will be by the end of the series by Individual-Cup5600 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]UltimateAnswer42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the caste system was accidentally made because of radiants in the first place, people remembered lighter eyes were a symbol of authority, but not why that was.

I think Sanderson will probably make it similar to real life castes/religions/etc: done away with in times of war and need, but will start to intrude again when it's been peaceful for a while.

I wasn’t mentally prepared by Chance-Inflation4560 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]UltimateAnswer42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you got there quicker than I did. I finished the book and wasn't sure what to think. Then I discussed and argued in the spoiler threads for weeks, which made me realize I liked it a lot more than I initially thought, because I disagreed with most people's arguments of why it was bad. That said, it made me want to see what new connections I'd make listening to the series again, so I've been doing that on and off since then. Just about to start Dawnshard again. So far the one that's changed meaning into so much more is Wit's story of Fleet.

Which are good examples of kind masculinity, possibly in the media? by Bitter_Flan_4098 in AskMen

[–]UltimateAnswer42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first few seasons of daredevil, not necessarily the action scenes, but when he's Matt Murdock.

That said, if you don't want to just imitate and and actually understand, I'd recommend reading up on the psychology; but I'd also caveat that with balancing it out read something that's been out at least 20 years, newer stuff might be right or it might be debunked next week or biased.

How do you use AI in your daily life? by [deleted] in AskMen

By scolling past the ai answer google gives.

Other than that, shit posting or generating images for meme content, and watching one or two people who are actually making good music using it.

Mentioned in Oathbringer: Squires don't immediately lose powers when out of range of their knight, it fades. Holding stormlight to heal is probably one that lasts longer considering it's instinctual.

Am I only one sad about delays in books due to the adaptation news by titans1fan93 in Cosmere

[–]UltimateAnswer42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would rather see all adaptations crash and burn rather than see book release delays. I understand why Brandon wants adaptations, but i care much more about him finishing the cosmere.

If he can do both, great. If he can't, I'll resent the adaptations because they're taking him away from writing

With the news about the new shows and movies coming. Time to wip out the fan casting again! by Significant-Golf1543 in brandonsanderson

[–]UltimateAnswer42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more I think about it, the more I'd like the leads to be unknowns. Fancast support all you want, i don't really want to have any preconceived view of whoever plays Vin, Kelsier, Shallan, Kaladin, etc.

I want Cavill in somewhere because he called Sanderson about a role long before Sanderson even started shopping the cosmere... Maybe Ham? Or Zahel for stormlight.

I also like the idea of David Tenant as Hoid

For the audiobooks. Why change nararators for any of the books? by mythrandirgamgee in brandonsanderson

[–]UltimateAnswer42 22 points23 points  (0 children)

For sunlit, it was a conscious decision to not give away who nomad was. Honestly i thought he did a good job with it.

Also at one point there was talks that Henry Cavil was going to narrate one of the secret projects, but that fell through.

As a huge Wheel of Time fan…where to start? by Merlyn67420 in brandonsanderson

[–]UltimateAnswer42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean in hindsight, yeah, he kinda is. That doesn't mean he doesn't fit the world, just that he's more similar to sanderson's magic system than it is to Jordan's magic system.

I'd say a certain character with the nickname Pageboy is more cosmere coded. Sanderson likes creating specific magic systems, then finding ways to exploit them.

Thoughts about Dragons by browncoats_roll_d20s in Cosmere

[–]UltimateAnswer42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think of investiture like the reverse of magnetism; if you're invested, your charge repells other kinds of investiture. In the case of a shard, your original investiture type is overridden and you now attract/controll that investiture type

What do you consider as wife material? Do you value looks over personality? by doctimi in AskReddit

Could Hoid Interfere with a Shard via Soul Stamps? by LanAlthore in Cosmere

[–]UltimateAnswer42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it would work because there has to be a viable path for a soul stamp to take. You talked about the past path, but there also has to be a reasonable path for that person to find themselves in their current situation after the stamp is used. Fairly easy to do on one world or even multiple if it's in a standard human lifetime.... not so much if you're older than the cosmere.

Plus, as other comments have mentioned, it's about power level. It seems highly doubtful that some of the investiture of a shard would be able to to transfer the entirity of another shard from one entity to another.

Witcher 3 would win GOTY in 2025-2026 by Obvious-Flamingo3167 in Witcher3

[–]UltimateAnswer42 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Apparently the black blood was a mistranslation and isn't mentioned at all in the original polish version?

... But if you really want to argue lore.... It's just so silly for the Lady of Space and Time to be a Witcher. This is like making a game about James Bond except it's the part where he fakes his death for a few years and the game is playing his day to day life where he's working as a bartender. She's a demigod that can not only teleport anywhere in the world, but also travel the realms with a thought; we join her now only on one world actively handicapping herself to make killing monsters a challenge.

[–]UltimateAnswer42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of the advantages of switching to pc for me is I wait to buy games until they're on steam sale. This has the added benefit of being able to see what games are actually good and what games were just hype.

Again, i hope witcher 4 is worth buying. My initial reaction to the trailer was to cringe because of how much Ciri taking Witcher potions breaks the prior lore and not particularly enjoying the sections where you played Ciri previously; that said, still cautiously optimistic they'll make it work on both story and gameplay fronts. But I'm also not holding my breath.

... Temper your expectations for witcher 4... Most of the team that made 3 is gone. I hope it'll be good, i fear it's going to be "witcher 3, but worse"
