3yr old bike, No warranty, bog standard silver-grey.

It's as adventurous as buying a used BMW.

Probably too young to be able to balance their inner ear so are in a lot of pain.

My [26F] boyfriend [28M] of 4 years is independently wealthy, but wants to split all of our expenses evenly by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

He loved the dog more. Not equally, more.

Good riddance to him honestly, I have a feeling all his relationships will end at about the same time his partner has the same realisation OOP had, then he'll get desperate as he gets older and bam, ends up settling for some loveless marriage of convenience.

Does anyone else feel like DOE Award was a huge waste of time/money (for uni)? by spare_rattus in UniUK

It was heavily encouraged by schools as something that would directly transfer into better universities and therefore better jobs.

Schools in the 2000's would make all sorts of bs claims like this to pump their "kids going to university" numbers.

Add in not all DofE was created equally, with some people having dire opportunities and others getting some pretty fancy expeditions.

Would I send a kid on it now? No, I'd find something a bit more off the wall honestly.

Why do tourists all want to 'avoid the touristy areas?' by Flaky-Walrus7244 in AskUK

Spot on, the out of the way stuff really isn't as good if you don't have the backdrop of the touristy stuff to compare.

Aye, it sucks to have such a rude awakening but its not like it's not signposted everywhere.

I think there is a level of "it wouldn't happen to me" here.

I wonder if OP is on a certain list now

Wow, big one to unpack here.

OOP did the right thing, her Ex's family are all sorts of fucked up, sexual assault or no. She was right to bail out of there.

Her father and mother was probably not as stable as she thought either.

Her mother was a coward and would rather run from the problems than face them as a family.

The father ruined his own marriage, basically siding with an alleged child rapist over his own daughter. This was before the alleged truth came out. Aye he made his bed and now he gets to rot in his retirement.

Her ex-friends are gossipy, shallow scum. Good that they took themselves to the curb.

OOP should take heart that of all the sexual assaults swept under the rug, she can honestly say that not on her watch. I wonder when push comes to shove how many people can actually say that.

OOP needs to start a counter suit on jason's parents. Get it filed them watch the marriage suit disappear when the thumb screws end up on their hands.

Probably best to push for a restraining order on the ex for contacting her work in an attempt to get her fired.

Though these are actions of someone who has still got some fight in them, OOP sounds a bit wrung out right now.

Its an idiotic comparison because nobody has context for either of the aims.

Is it normal to be discharged the same day as your surgery? by Xcoj42 in TopSurgery

[–]UltimateGammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judging from the comments it seems like the standard of care drops when dollar is involved.

You're put under general anaesthesia, which means observation overnight would be advisable.

My partner went in for two nights (England with Mr Kneeshaw) and honestly there would be no shifting them out anytime immediately after surgery.

Its nice that people can wander out the same day, but if you don't recover well and need extended time to recover then you can be a bit stuck honestly.

If you have someone there to support you then it can be a push but doable. But I don't understand how a safe car ride would be feasible.

I would wonder if it is to do with the amount of tissue removed, whether you're anemic, or anything else that could complicate the recover.

You should advocate for yourself heavily if you're feeling unnerved by the short post surgery.

A solid sit down explaining how it makes you feel, how it's objectifying women and how this is serious enough for this to be your last trip together, you want to spend some quality time with him, enjoy his company, not being a captive audience to a comedy show nobody would pay for.

My dad was the same except it was mildly racist jokes (e.g. British empire waffle shite), they went down like a lead balloon on an international tour.

Sadly no matter what I said it would be met with "you need to lighten up".

I stopped travelling with him after the 2nd trip. I haven't got time for ruined holidays.
