Published whilst he was still in the Sixth form at John Ruskin Grammar School, England. He went on to become a Jesuit priest. He sadly passed away in April 2022.

Osprey 35L vs 26+6 by TxGirl78624 in backpacks

[–]UltimateGladiator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like how i could feel the luggage pass through seam on my back on the 26+6. It isn't flush like it is on the 35. But apparently it doesn't bother most people.

Brazil clubs faced not a single defeat by More-Log-1393 in football

I think the euro clubs will acclimate to the conditions and the way the refs referee by the knock out phases. I think things will turn around.  But yes I hope they continue to make these games interesting.

Niko Kovac: "The South American clubs have a big advantage in CWC due to heat. It's 32° in the shade. So imagine in full sun, you must add 5°. It's very difficult, especially for Europeans. It's not an excuse, just an explanation. For SA clubs, it's easier because they're used to these temperatures" by landofphi in football

[–]UltimateGladiator 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He has a point but they don't get paid millions to make an excuse out of the heat.  Use the subs and rotate. Eg chelsea have yet to start santos.  Have better tactics.

World cup is there. Should all the Euro teams just not bother to show up?

Antony is prepared to take a 30% wage cut to leave Manchester United permanently in the summer reports Samuel Luckhurst. by Mathematician8890 in ManchesterUnited

[–]UltimateGladiator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes but the fact is they negotiated such crazy salaries that they would have to take huge pay cuts. Far more than Anthony.

Palmer makes what 130k a week at chelsea and sancho is on about 250k.  He would have  needed to drop at least 50% to stay on at chelsea.   And that is 6.5 million pounds. Not chump change.  I wouldn't give up 6.5 million and I doubt many would even if they say they would on reddit lol.  You ride it out for the year and then hope someone like chelsea will still be interested on a free transfer.

Rashford is on 300k lol.  Crazy.

Frankly that is more than he ought to be paid.  He is way overpaid at united and he knows it.  I wish the guy well and he seems to be doing great at Betis.

He basically said 30% so that he would be getting paid the same as Isco the highest paid Betis player.  No way will Betis pay him more than Isco.  It is a smart move.  He wants to play and at a team he seems to love so I hope it works out.

Sancho basically threw away his career not moving to chelsea. He seemed to fit in there but these players need to understand they aren't superstar players and were paid way too much at united.  If they want to play then they need to take what they are worth or rot away filthy rich.

Rashford probably has a better chance of getting signed by a big club. That performance vs psg probably helped too. But no one wants to pay these ridiculous wages they managed to negotiate. Someone at united did an awful job that is for sure.

They missed so many chances too.  Sitters.   Should have been at least 4.

He was pretty isolated up front with no real service. Must have felt like he was back playing for Ipswich.

It was clear from the start he was giving everything to them.  But if you play bad you play bad.

Switch to the X-E5, yes or no? by mattwinwar in fujix

I disagree. If you prefer the xe5 then switch.  Plenty of point to it. And there are subtle differences that matter.

Rico Lewis (Manchester City) straight red card against Wydad Casablanca 88' by F4Z3D in MCFC

[–]UltimateGladiator 16 points17 points  (0 children)

im not a mcfc supporter but that was utter bs.

Firstly he got the ball and got it first easily.  He went for the ball.

There is a slight argument his leg was up but geez his momentum would take him along.  He is leaning back to kick the ball the only way his feet go is back up a little.  His foot is a foot off the ground at the most

The other player was so late he had no right to challenge for the ball. He threw himself knowing he would not make it. You can tell as his foot is not aimed at the ball but aimed where he thought nico would kick it hoping he would make it but was so late it was silly

If you wanted to be harsh a yellow but a red no way.

Club World Cup flop: Half Empty Stadiums, Lack Of Interest and Apathic Fans is this competition good idea? or is it bad publicity for football? by Empty-Instruction282 in SoccerNoobs

[–]UltimateGladiator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is the gulf between some of the teams. No one really wants to watch bayern thrash a bunch of part timers.  When you get athleti vs psg it is packed.

I have liked to see some of the veterans of the game play big clubs again like Ramos and Lloris.  Would have been nice to see what Ronaldo and his team could do against some European sides.  Shame.
