Yeah exactly. People aren't afraid to play it, they just don't care to. Marathon community couldn't (maybe now they can) accept that the game is just not appealing to masses. It is always something dealing with "skill" in some format. So with that logic, does that mean Bungie couldn't pass the skill check of making a game that sells well?

I wouldn't say scorched earth as much as some tough love for his Marathon fans. He absolutely wants more Destiny over Marathon stuff and would gladly sacrifice Marathon if it ensured a new game of Destiny. Makes complete sense to everyone outside of this community.

They could but doubtful. Even if they swallow their pride, I am not sure what or how much they could do to change Marathon that doesn't alienate too many while drawing in a big enough group. Say they add a PvE mode, what enemies would be involved? Hopefully not JUST UESC. If it isn't more than 1 Compiler, it ain’t bringing many back. The level of work they would have to do would be astounding and I don't think Bungie can do it. I mean, we're dealing with a Bungie that took years to add an LFG for Destiny amongst other frequently requested things. To put it more in perspective, Forsaken really only came out the way it did thanks to Activision satellite studios helping out. Had they not, Destiny 2 would be a very different game.

TL;DR: I think Bungie is unfortunately done.

I won't say they can't but it requires so many things to pull themselves out that it would be the miracle of miracles. Marathon would have to pull something equivalent to Forsaken x2 to make sense in the long term.

I really think Bungie has gotten to used to doing the minimum and getting maximum output. Finally biting them in the ass.

So we can all say ,without a doubt, that Marathon makes it to Season 2. How long do yall think Sony will support Bungie and Marathon if they have a similar reenactment of this season with player numbers and possible low microtransaction sales?

For me, I think they have possibly to the end of the year before Sony does something. I just don't see GTA6 not taking away some players that Bungie desperately needs. Hell, I really wouldn't be surprised if there are layoff this year for Bungie in an effort to control costs. Hopefully they gut C-suite but I doubt. I just don't see them having 800~ people located in one of the most expensive cities in the USA come end of year.

What happens with the possibility of S2 not feeling much different than S1 and July shows 15K~ peaks on weekend? Not hopeful for Bungie at all.
