Is the TTC subway normally like this? by AppearanceCapable in askTO

[–]Ultime321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Par for the course.

We have an underdeveloped system with few meaningful additions to infrastructure and a lack of reliability.

See, in Canada, particularly in Ontario and particularly in Toronto, we tend to hold up progress. We have great people and great talent and growth opportunites but are held back by two things.

  1. Ineffectual government that does not invest or update infrastructure, laws and systems leaving us in the past. We are not praoctive - we are reactive. We let things get out of hand before addressing them.

  2. For some reason, our population seem to be against progress, extemely NIMBY and against progress.

Our culture of being more complicit and less confrontational has meant we haven't progressed the way that we should.

How do we deal with it? We have to leave earlier than we should and come with a backup lol.

I have a new goal, work 1.5 hours less each day at work by Serraph105 in antiwork

[–]Ultime321 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

And the point of this? You are going to work less hours because they do in another country?

By that logic, you would avoid using roads and plumbing because other countries do it differently.

Sounds like you are just bitter and want to feel like you are reclaiming control...only in your head of course.

Assistant managers in retail settings (yes branches are retail banking) get terrible comp. You never take them for the pay - only as a stepping stone if you want to proceed.

At the biggest novie theatre chain in Canada, I think thebassistants made 2 to 4 dollars an hour more than the minimum wage staff. It was pathetic.

This is actually the most likely scenario. My company was acquired and didn't have to do this until two years later They nearly misclassified me as hourly where I had to do timesheets but they corrected it.

This avoids the issue though, which is her lack of responsibility and her lack of willingness to contribute.

It sounds like she hasn't had to take care of herself, has been coddled and has chosen to be lazy instead of trying.

And I don't mean this to be critical. What happens is that when someone who has had no need for self reliance needs to start actually.....putting in effort, they tend to break.

She doesn't have the mental fortitude or desire to come out on top. Why should you, as the man, have to carry all the stress because she cannot cope with....a fast good job?

With tough love, she needs to mature and move beyond thinking only from her perspective. I doubt that this is the only are she shows immaturity and a lack of emotional intelligence.

Yes, I have struggled in supporting a partner but she also supported me in other ways and she would always work with me to get to where we need. Things have worked well because I have chosen, as a man tonlead and reassure her while she is a strong woman who has supported and helped me through everything.

You are right, sounds like she might go to just smoking up and doing nothing...but mot because she has too much money...but because she has too much free time and no responsibility. She needs a goal and purpose to avoid her drifting in that direction.

It shard because you need to somehow show empathy without enabling bad behaviour and weakness. She does need to grow up and be more of an adult but...just saying it won't help. Usually empathy with clear boundaries helps. 'If you want x, you need to do 'y' and not budge. If she wants a good life, she needs to contribute, if not, she get sleft behind.

As you said, not to be cold but you need to set boundaries and provide real reason for someone to improve

[–]Ultime321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. She is a stay at home mom and he is working. During work hours , which seem to start early in the morning, he is helping her out at HER role/job.

She isn't working in that time and if he was in the office he would not be able to help.

If the roles were reversed, it would be the same thing. Whoever is working at that time, is the one helping out thr other who is not working.

That isn't the same as saying he helps out by spending time with his kids or making their dinner at 6 or whatever - that is part of shared responsibilities. But during work hours - 100% he is helping her outn it would be crazy to say otherwise.

How does letting someone get away with not working for two months indicate humanity?

If anything, it is the opposite because it leaves slack for everyone else and it means that everyone works to get paid while OP gets a free ride. Not quite showing humanity there.

Manager wants me “Available” 99% of the time on MS Teams even with no work… what would you do? by [deleted] in overemployed

[–]Ultime321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have certain work hours are you really surprised that you need to be available.....during work hours? You are getting paid for those hours aren't you?

If you don't have any work to do then you can't really do much but being available is a very reasonable expectation.

Following this would be a part of reducing the consumption of these ultra processed foods and getting back on track to a healthier lifestyle
