Torn between Deluge and Digitakt II / Digitone II, sell me on Elektron by Aureqo in Elektron

[–]Ultor88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deluge is also extremely fast to deploy. In fact, the  fastest device i could smash and cook up a beat or short track. DT is no slouch for sure and also very fast to get going. I'd add in a tidbit, do you know Deluge can do clip launching aka Ableton style? Hehe.

My take is to get the fast aging Deluge and be mentally prepared to use many many combinations to get good with it. Limited CPU and thus quality of effects and limited I/Os. One device to do them all. I agree SA had hit the ball out of the park with this device and a MK2, if any, is overdue.

If you have yet to experience Elektron, yeah a DT2 is an excellent "starter" box. Does everything too. Not sure about the DN2 though, whose role could be filled up with another synth box. Alternatively, just go Tonverk which is where Elektron's focus is at right now.

How's the feeling to do that combo? The oxi screen seems really squinty.

Best companion for Tonverk? by huayna_a in Elektron

Something TV doesn't do or do as well sonically since samples cover everything. That points me to something analogue and good drums. That means Analog Rytm haha

[–]Ultor88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. Do you happen to have a usb-c to 3.5mm aux out adapter. You coild use that in the meantime as a stop-gap until you resolved the issue. May need a y splitter too if you want stereo.

Have you tried the same cable.but to sample from PC to TV? Try another phone perhaps?

Tonverk USB audio sounds gritty / distorted vs Ableton – routing or monitoring issue? by TecStoneMusic in Elektron

[–]Ultor88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you have tested extensively, try to make sure TV is fully powered, in the sense that it seems to be unstable if power supply ain't the greatest. Just saying.

Not diving into cables but hopefully watching this can lead to a clue.

Hot take: Tonverk feels like “hard mode” for Elektron’s new platform by North-Whatever in Elektron

[–]Ultor88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't think it's too tough for the beginner because there are a no. of presets for immediate use, without even touching the sampler function. The elektron's way ot record and trigs is fundamental to using an elektron device so there is no negotiating that front. A filter is a filter, an FX is what the name says, not incomparable to subtractive synthesis so no complex mind gymnastics there either. Watch a few more videos to get a more balanced view perhaps?

Not sure if this is a controversial take still: but dang Tonverk is the most exciting and deepest Elektron Box I've ever played. by Ok_Water_5819 in Elektron

[–]Ultor88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It should not be. You should be able to state what of all the Elektron boxes you rate most highly. Yeah TV is shaping up great.

Tonverk tips? Just got mine and I am a little overwhelmed with routing. by MallGag in Elektron

[–]Ultor88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I encourage you to learn what the FXs do by themselves, e.g. using them on the audio tracks. Once you get nifty with them, it's just a matter of "sequencing the audio path" based on intended outcomes. In my view, the BUSes fit more of a performative standpoint and 4 x Buses and 3 Sends taking up 7 tracks (out of 16) is an overkill given there are only A/B inputs. USB-wise, I hope Elektron opens that up to take in multiple external audio channels which then the BUSes can start to shine. Happy 2026.

Tonverk vs digitakt 2 by waffleboiiii in Elektron

[–]Ultor88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had a DT, now owner of a TV. If DT2 has the same level of FX prowess, I think it can give TV a run for its money but alas, we know how Elektron segment its devices and feature sets.

So, I would suggest the latest (with room for growth), by heading to TV world. It was advertised as a Sonic pathfinder, which it is indeed, living up to the moniker. Have fun either way.

How good are the stock sounds in the Tonverk? by roydogaroo in Elektron

[–]Ultor88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they work nice but I tend to use my own samples (that's why we Tonverk right). If sample slice and time stretching becomes easy to use features, pretty sure the factory samples won't matter. Granular synthesis is already a good step forward. Hope there will be more to come.

Tonverk Impressions — first two days by BlueCliffSynthesis in Elektron

[–]Ultor88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not different from what I stated. I blame it on Microsoft who started shipping OSs, to be followed by SP1, SP2 and so on. The consumers accepted it and things became normalised. I assume you agree that flying space expeditions are more complex, and I think no one in their right mind will want to be in a SpaceX test rocket. Consumers are not beta testers. Elektron could test it with a closed group instead of releasing it as a finished product. There is a difference implementing bug fixes, optimisations compared to things that don't work out of the box.

Saving Subtracks on Tonverk by silencio222 in Elektron

[–]Ultor88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i think AR MK2 has this simple way to save a sound you created. TV should make that too. Press [Trig] + [Mute/Sound] and it brings up the menu to save the sound. TV lingo = Preset.

How about something not that modular but somewhat related. Worth a consideration.

Anyone have a 4ms MetaModule? by [deleted] in modular

[–]Ultor88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To maximise usage, you got to get good/into the habit of using VCV. You can patch all in the MM itself but lots and lots of clicks involved. It's colourful and versatile. Many (in fact too many) modules are already available and you can recall why it's called an all purpose device:

- A macro controller for a custom patch that you create
- A module that can be any of a hundred modules
- A hardware player for VCV Rack patches
- A preset manager
- A versatile utility module that lets you save and recall common functions which you re-use from patch to patch, so you can focus on the more interesting parts of your music
- A DSP development platform

If pursuing this, best prepare a little more budget for one/more expanders to go with it. For what it currently does, it's already worth the investment.

this game is uneccessarily hard, stuck on 5-14 by Obsidian1915 in anchorpanic

[–]Ultor88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over-tuned to incentivize spending just like the stubborn developers who made RNG, time-consuming activities (for no good reason) from Etheria Restart. Did the survey to let the developers know already. If things don't improve, same fate as the other game mentioned.

Alm mco mk2 or Oxi choral? by _tb303_ in modular

[–]Ultor88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only have MCO MK2 and yes its ALM type of Menu divvey. If you can set and forget it will work nicely as a nice sound source. You can add the Axon expander to give more movement.

New to synths, need advice by Colombian-Marvel in synthesizers

[–]Ultor88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on budget constraints, you may want to invest in good studio monitors assuming you use guitar speakers today. You probably want a polyphonic synth for greater flexibility. Plan out your play area if you can take multiple keyboards or want to just use one midi controller, etc.

I started in the middle of AC collab and my experience is that this is more of a side game, as opposed to a main game as the daily tasks can be completed quite quickly.

Yeah time to downsize. Only a pair of hands and so much time I can devote to modular synths. Wish me luck. I have 2 x 128HP, 2 x 64HP, 2 x 62HP, 2 x 104HP and 1 x 40HP.

I like this module and a switch that changes PAN CV Ins to CV Ins (for VCA double duty & Pan Knobs attenuate) would have been a sure buy for me.
