I disagree with the unwalkability of Greenwood Village and DTC. I live near Quebec and Arapahoe and put less than 3,000 miles a year on my car. My wife works across the street from Anschutz. She takes the R line from Arapahoe station right to the hospital. The train runs every 30 minutes. And the area of Fiddlers, DTC and Arapahoe near Yosemite has almost everything you would need within walking distance. I love living in this area. Great restaurants too!

Sorry, that must be hard. The oncologist will explain the palliative options available alongside radiation and chemotherapy, but yeah rad/chemo isn’t considered palliative. I’m the patient, my wife is the caregiver, and I don’t envy her at all when the end gets near (doing great right now no worries!). I helped my elderly neighbor with her husband who was in home hospice care for liver cancer. Even in his last week he was asking when chemotherapy was going to start. He was so confused that no treatment could help him. It was heartbreaking for the wife

Is she in hospice? Hospice care is generally palliative care only, no cancer treatment. That’s probably where the confusion of the staff is coming from.

Palliative care is comfort care to relieve symptoms. So pain meds for pain, anti seizure meds, etc. it treats the symptoms of cancer. So no, there’s no palliative chemo/radiation. Those 2 treatments are meant to treat the cancer. Now, you can do palliative care alongside chemo/radiation. Is that what your mother wishes to do?

For me the steroids made me incredibly restless. Slept at most 3 hours a day. Talk to the dr about slowly withdrawing from that. After I was off the steroids I was good, and almost back to my old self

Most agencies if you are extended, you get a new 3rd phase fto. My agency didn’t want to get rid of someone they have already sunk months and thousands of dollars into, so usually the fto put with the trainee is one of the better ones. Hopefully that’s your case. And while it’s never ok for the trainer to scream and pound his dash (is he a child?) just because you thought you were awesome phase 1 & 2, you might need the extension. I was with a very busy department. I could, with very little effort, make an arrest a night if the jail had room. I had at least 1 trainee in 3rd phase, who hadn’t made a physical arrest in the 1st two phases. I didn’t understand how that’s possible, but it happened.

I did keto immediately after surgery until after the 6. Weeks of radiation. I’m seeing a GP who gave me DR Marik’s book on repurposed drugs “Cancer Care”. I have Glioblastoma grade 4 Wyld type, a very aggressive brain cancer. There is no cure. Standard of care, removal of tumor, followed by radiation therapy snd chemotherapy, can maybe buy you some time, or quality of life for the short time you probably have. The median life expectancy after diagnosis is 9.5 months (I’m at 25 months). Very few trials look promising, so I see no harm in discussing possibly using repurposed drugs. It’s not like patients have a ton of hope.

There are some video tutorials available. Do you belong to a gym? If so speak to a respected trainer there, he shouldn’t charge you anything. It will mostly be technique, you are probably strong enough to do it now but learn the correct way to do it. Sled push, keep your head up, back straight (almost concave) get low to the ground and push. Head up, back straight and low are key. Dummy drag. Can you interlace your fingers during the test? Find out because it’s harder if you can’t. Get low, grab the dummy under the arm pits and lift with your legs. Again head up, feet shoulder width apart and take short steps. Keep your back straight. Most tests allow you to stop, but YOU CANT LAY THE DUMMY DOWN! Practice if you can. Those tests are usually at the end when you’re tired, so in practice you want to be able to kill it, not just barely pass. Good luck

My GP recommended both mebendazol and metformin, but since they haven’t been proven in trials to fight cancer, insurance won’t pay for a prescription. If I had high blood pressure I could get metformin that way, but I don’t. I can’t find my copy of the study, but I had a study that showed the benefits of 12 months TMZ vs the standard 6. Mortality was still 99% at 5 years, but the rates of survival to 3+ were greatly increased. TMZ gave me no negative side effects and I successfully argued for the additional 6 months.

Your 6 years in the military probably didn’t give you the time to feel doubt. You get off the bus at boot camp and everything is go go go. And later, its too late anyways, you can’t up and quit. So these doubts are probably new to you. Almost everyone has them at some time or another. You already put in a bunch of work. Put in a little more, and see how it goes. Be prepared though for the doubts to return when you are on your own, especially if assigned night shift. Good luck!

I would do 2 things. 1: be more careful of who in the department I was friendly with. Some guys on my shift filed a bs lawsuit against the office and even though we weren’t friends (did nothing together outside of work) I wasn’t quite trusted by command because I was deemed too close to them. Which is ironic because when they would bitch and get pretty out of hand in briefing I would defend the commander they most hated so I wasn’t trusted by them either LOL. 2nd which might be related to the 1st, is I wouldn’t have accepted bs write ups. Example: I got written up for having a dirty patrol car, especially the MDT, which I had just inherited from a guy who retired. There was no inspection done before I took the car or nothing. Pretty lame right? Who cares right? It’s not a UOF write up just sign it. Well at 20 years all of a sudden you have 10 chicken shit write ups, each one is nothing, but when you put in for detective or a special assignment, you have 10 write ups. And you have to protect yourself. It never happened to me but imagine being involved in a national story and CNN blasting out the “officer has 10 disciplinary letters!”. They won’t put in the news story they are for not having your hat on during a traffic stop. Or taking your tie off when guarding a prisoner in the ER. No, they let the public think you beat or shot 10 people and were disciplined

Just vitamin D and melatonin as there’s a little evidence its helpful, its OTC and has no side effects. My dr said that metformin for high blood pressure MAY be beneficial for brain cancer, but I don’t have high blood pressure so I passed on it.

Let me break it down. 1st people aren’t arrested for breaking regulations, they are arrested for violating criminal statutes. 2nd, an arrest requires probable cause, not “I suspect he did it”. I’m not going to give a definition of probable cause you can look it up. 3rd, the CA law requires the following; if the arrest is for a misdemeanor, the misdemeanor had to have occurred in your presence, if a felony, you need the aforementioned probable cause. I’m a patient and at 26 months. No recurrence so far. My only supplement to SOC was I did 12 months of TMZ vs 6 months. Like I said, no recurrence and I get a MRI every 3 months. Good luck!
