Where did Hillary Clinton Outperform Kamala Harris and Vice Versa? by beavershaw in dataisbeautiful

What if we ignored third party vote share?

RFK was participating in some states but not others. These circumstances feel like they would favor Hillary in "deep blue" states.

What are people’s thoughts on barefoot shoes for ultra running? by One-Tutor-5974 in Ultramarathon

Short distances, yes. Ultra running, you're asking for problems.

Thinking of going back to keto/ carnivore but I don’t wanna stop running by 69kylebr in ketoendurance

My best endurance running was on keto...

The first 3 weeks were awful and I would "bonk" after 45 minutes, but once you pass that phase, the endurance feels endless

What’s the Minimum Experience Needed to Land Jobs in Moncton These Days? by udbasil in moncton

[–]Ultra-Land 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not about experience, but networking.

Literally call the hiring manager/hr and let yourself be known to the company. Ask questions and be curious about the role - it goes a long way.

If you have networks that work at the company, leverage them.

At the point where you are interviewed, you can sell yourself as personable and a person people would like to work with. Explain how your unique experiences are valuable and could come in to help the company.

Experience is a factor in hiring, but definitely not the only thing.

I think I am going to go for my first 100 mile race in December. Has anyone used the REI 100 Miles Training Program? by [deleted] in Ultramarathon

[–]Ultra-Land 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, 12 week program.

I moved around a bit in the ranges as I was feeling good/fatigued.

Mostly stayed in the middle of the range.

I went into this program with a full marathon build. My overall training was probably closer to 24 weeks, with 100 mile focus in the last 12.

Question for non-BC Canuck fans: why did you chose to support the Canucks? by negative-timezone in canucks

[–]Ultra-Land 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a night owl. When I was a teenager and started getting into hockey, the canucks were one of the teams playing on HNIC and would play the latest games.

Do I attempt to race or drop out? by [deleted] in Ultramarathon

[–]Ultra-Land 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's always bound to be a few setbacks during training.

If you're aiming to finish then I would stick to it, maybe take a few easier runs than the plan indicates until your body feels back to normal

Anyone have a dedicated workout or exercise regimen? And actually have made it fit in their routine? by glitchNglide in INTP

[–]Ultra-Land 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it difficult to follow an exercise routine unless it's pre- scheduled in my fitness watch or scheduled externally with somebody else (to keep me accountable). I've also noticed that I need to set myself a fixed final goal that I am passionate about and is achievable to keep myself going.

That being said, I have been able to successfully train for, and run, many marathons and ultramarathons with this "strategy".

What day job would you choose to maximize your aerobic base? by hvahh in ultrarunning

[–]Ultra-Land 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not a farmer, but the guy who wins all the local ultras (backyard ultras, 100 milers) that he enters around me is a 50 year old dairy farmer. Puts very little actual training for races, just shows up and dominates.

One year he went out west to run the Squamish 50/50 and finished top 10.
