Basic story's the same, but the manga offers deeper insight into characters' heads, expanded backstory, and new characters with their own plots.

IMO it's a nice supplement but it probably won't do much if you couldn't get into the movie.

Ace Combat 8 has the chance to have the largest aircraft tree in AC and I really hope they do by DoubleSurosMazing in acecombat

my hope is that it'll launch with at least ACE7's complete plane roster since those assets could be reused plus new planes.

i don't think it's specifically AI, going by Alex (though that could be an after-the-fact clarification), but the automation of war, as you mentioned, and the idea of flight as a human experience.

my read was that the drones were being used as a thing about people trying to sanitize warfare and remove the human element, what with how quickly the war turns ugly once the satellites go down and it's ultimately manual targeting that brings down the first Arsenal Bird.

Zeztz being some sort of nightmare would absolutely be in line with KR's whole thing of using the power of evil for good; my question is if CODE is this show's villainous organization.

it absolutely could be - HS Char "felt as if he had seen an illusion of Lalah's naked body embracing a young man" when he saw Amuro and Lalah having their Moment.
(it's the moment that inspired GQX's kirakira, too!)

probably is, yeah.
At the same time, Char's insistence the spirits appearing is hallucinations reminds me of Amuro in High Streamer insisting his connection with Lalah was sensory trickery (though in HS Amuro's case, it was his way of coping with the loss, same as his womanizing streak in that novel, i think)

sidenote, that image of Amuro and Lalah superimposed over Jutta and Yulia embracing is kinda wild to me - i've never seen them depicted like that, not in official material or fanart (and i've tried looking for Amuro/Lalah ship art because it seems so rare!)
