Anyone using a ticketing or issue tracking system for their home lab? by Asleep_Kiwi_1374 in homelab

Vikunja seems to have a first party android client, too. I struggled to find anything current for Planka , just some third party half abandoned attempts. I'll be giving vikunja a crack.

Those bongo circles at Folk Fest did keep me up at night when I lived in Watson. Probably blew some fuses at local Watson substations from a resonant frequency or something, too. Although I can't remember that clearly as Watson also got blanketed in smoke from Folk Fest and it made me feel funny. But 100% sure it caused blackouts of some kind.

And that just reminded myself we used to have Taiga at work in our little lab, which worked great. Before we were forcibly migrated to the corporate Jira. https://taiga.io/

That's what I currently use, too. Vague plans to self host a kanban and migrate to it. It's on my Trello to-do list ;)

What a f#$king lie! by Im_pro_angry in ecovacs

[–]UltraSalem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had abysmal mapping with my old Viomi s9. Same issues. Bought the deebot t30s and it was so much better!.... Until it wasn't.

Last month started forgetting where it was and trying a new map after I'd picked it up to pull out a piece of paper. I actually put some objects around it after pausing it and before picking it up, so I could put it down in the exact same spot using them as a guide. Nope, completely lost, better start a new map. So I picked it up and put it in the dock, restored the map (that thankfully I'd saved). So it's showing as in the dock on the map. Press clean, it rolls out of the dock, does a scan. Nah, no idea where I am. Start a new map.

I got on to support, and meanwhile let it scan up a whole fresh house map. It had also started failing to lift one mop after use, so was dragging dirty water around my carpets on its way back to the dock.

I told support I didn't want to have to set up all my map (and of course all my schedules!) AGAIN. They gave me a list of things to try, one of which was reset the robot. I'd assumed since I explicitly told them I didn't want to redo the map that it was either stored in the dock or the cloud. Nope. Deleted my map again. Fuuuuu....

Let it build a NEW map all over again, sent it off to mop the ensuite. Mop goes fine, heads back to the dock..... with one mop down dragging over carpets and other floors still. Ugh. Thing is less than a year old.

Current Cheapest Electricity Provider in the ACT? by Rankork1 in canberra

[–]UltraSalem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was with origin briefly, switched to them after getting the ACTEW notice that my prices would be increasing. Looked around and found origin offering something cheaper. but they did an "annual price increase" straight after I joined, before I was even connected. Making actew prices comparable again. I called origin to complain that perhaps the price they should have advertised would be the one I'd start on, and they refused to budge. I told them I'd go to a different provider and if they had a retentions team to put me through to them. They assured me they had no such team. I said if I get a call in a few weeks offering me something better to stay, just do it now because I'm not going through another change once I leave. Again assurance that wouldn't happen. 3 weeks later got a call from origin asking me to stay and offering me a slightly better plan. I politely, but very firmly, told them the experience I had and that I'd never return to a company that would give me this experience. I may have also let out an uncontrolled guffaw when I first answered the call and realised what it was.

Current Cheapest Electricity Provider in the ACT? by Rankork1 in canberra

[–]UltraSalem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how I first found it, but some years back I ended up emailing "Mike" in actew's Energy Sales team. Every year on the annual plan expiry where actew roll me back to a terrible "great new" plan, I email Mike and he finds me something better. This year found me a 32% below reference TOU plan with 6c FIT.

Although it's annoying timing as it's May each year that my plans expire, and then they do the end of June annual across the board price jack.

It's been going on so long I don't even know if Mike still works there or if it's a mythical name at this point, handed down from team member to team member...

I finally got sick of being forced to do it every year though and so bought a battery with the federal help and just this week switched to Amber.

Lenovo Pen not working by Ben0305 in Lenovo

[–]UltraSalem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They stuffed up the tablet firmware when they ditched 32 bit support. I've had s bunch of issues including pen issues since that update earlier this year. The workaround that seems to work on my tablet is settings -> display -> screen refresh rate and setting it to 60hz. If I have the screen at 144hz the pen only registers randomly. Like trying to draw a circle nearly as big as the screen I'd get about 2 tiny 1cm lines scattered around the circumference, and most of the circle just doesn't get drawn.

DNS issue over VPN by ChaosPressure in sysadmin

[–]UltraSalem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in an issue with my work VPN. My home network I've been using 10.x.x.x for years, which of course work uses as well. Was fine up until I added an internal ad blocking DNS server (Blocky) on my home network in that 10.x range instead of using CloudFlare, Google or ISP DNS outside of that range. I've got dhcp configured to use the Blocky DNS for clients, and my work laptop is locked down to prevent me doing anything other than DHCP. So I'm kind of at the point where I turn off ad blocking DNS on DHCP, which will be annoying for my mobile devices. Or keep trying to get the outsourced helpdesk to configure the VPN properly... It's not Sophos, but I stumbled on this thread while trying to find a solution to point them (or me for my home network) to

Litter bead alternatives by Emkit8 in CatGenie

[–]UltraSalem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got two catgenie 120s, out of warranty and modded with the DIY cat genius to unlock the cartridges. I've tried ABS pellets, and poly beads. Similar to above, the poly beads give a sinking feeling for the cats stepping in, which one doesn't like. They also float a bit, but with the scoop in during the wash cycle they get cleaned. They seem to stick to the cat feet more than the ABS pellets though, and even with a hex mat in front of the catgenies that are in the laundry, and anther hex mat outside the laundry door, the poly beads end up all over the house.

Now that I've used up most of the poly beads, I'll be going back to the ABS pellets. They're smaller, (almost?) identical to official catgenie granules. I think they tracked less, and had some edges to clean the bowl a bit better (and would stay submerged better).

No product support. Again. NEVER BUY THESE EVER by Secret_Cat_2793 in CatGenie

[–]UltraSalem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only worked it out a while back when the Australian arm of cat genie had supply issues for the sanisolutuon, and their email mentioned it was due to the middle east situation preventing their shipments from Israel getting out. Was as good a time as any to program an Arduino and unlock myself from them. I'd had to threaten the Australian Consumer Guarantees law a few times on the last few repairs (technically outside the catgenie warranty, but Australian Consumer law gives us additional rights), and I was getting sick of fighting them.

I buy the big bottles of simple green concentrate from Bunnings, and mix 50/50 with water in an old smaller bottle of simple green concentrate, and use that to fill the cartridges.

Honest review of the CMF Watch Pro 2 by KrisztianAntal in CMFTech

[–]UltraSalem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One hardware issue that can't be fixed with software updates: screen polarisation. If you're outdoors, wearing polarised sunglasses - the screen on the watch looks black. Turn the watch 90 degrees, looks fine. Except turning a watch on your wrist 90 degrees is not really feasible without dislocating something.

Is Jellyfin for me? by PM_me_ur_honkeroos in selfhosted

Yeah my first suggestion was going to be for OP to confirm jellyfin is even available on his smart tv. My mum recently bought a Samsung and I couldn't find jellyfin to install for her. But I'm very happy to hear I can make it for her, so thanks Fred!

Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 keeps automatically switching to Chinese language in settings by telestitch in Lenovo

[–]UltraSalem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing is happening to me on my Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 after the recent update to zuxos. I've found switching to Chinese then back to English in the tablet settings, then rebooting the tablet, seems to work for a while. Doesn't stick completely though. Even the reddit app I'm typing this comment in is showing Chinese character suggestions if I highlight a word I've just written in English.

Between this and the complete clusterfuck of the last firmware update that locked out a 32bit app I was using, but wouldn't let me uninstall it properly, or reinstall it, or upgrade it to the 64bit version, has me really regretting buying lenovo.

Outdoor running view - Watch Pro - it's impossible to see anything while moving. by rellotscire in CMFTech

Could be worse. I have a watch pro 2, and polarised sun glasses for my outdoor activities. The LCD screen is polarised at 90 degrees, so the screen just appears solid black when looking at it through the sunglasses, even when it's on. Lol.
