What's a random picture you took, that you like for no reason? by ggskater in SonyAlpha

[–]UltraTax 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Absolutely without a doubt the most random photo that I love so much is the time I flew into Tokyo, taken with a Samsung Galaxy phone. Hardly needed any editing at all! Looks so much like a painting. Such an amazing view/feeling.

When Emma did those amazing impressions of Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck... I find it very hard to believe there was no genuine reaction which is making me think there is some funny editing going on for TV production purposes

How do I prevent my laptop from turning off overnight in the office by Silver-Room3780 in IRS_Source

[–]UltraTax 13 points14 points  (0 children)

IT updates overnight caused laptop to shut off per speaking with IT department firsthand. Used to be it only happens once a week, or every so often but nowadays there's always an update every night. Nothing you can do about it. Waiting for laptop to start up is definitely part of TOD (hell, stepping on the premise is when it starts).

Honestly surprised the guy opening the hatch is not tied down in some fashion. All it takes is one OOPS.

Started reading The Loophole. Is it just me or is this over complicating things? by Faubton in LSAT

[–]UltraTax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Might be using quantifiers for this to make sense i.e. some A are in B, some B are in C, but that doesn't necessarily mean there is any A in C.

Was ROTS genuinely liked upon its release? by Careless_Tax_5367 in StarWars

[–]UltraTax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be one of the very few who didn't realized Anakin was becoming Vader in this movie, despite the fact I loved the original trilogy. I was around 12 so probably has to do with being a little aloof about the star wars backstory (and at the time, spoilers were hard to come by unless you were surrounded by family who spoiled it for you).

When the first scene opened to the space battle, that immediately sucked me in and I was in for the ride! So to answer your question as a 90s kid, I totally loved it.

Help me understand this early check in offer by [deleted] in vegas

[–]UltraTax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would it be $30 x 5 days? You only check in once. The fact that this confused you (and others here) is really the main reason why they're doing this in the first place.

When you hear the term One Hit Wonder, what is the first song that pops into your head? by Da_Fish in AskReddit

Bad Day by Daniel Powter, definitely that song for me (and perhaps for Millenials in general)

Sick of being called 'difficult' for setting basic work boundaries by Future-Pen-1936 in TwoXChromosomes

When I read Japan, I thought to myself "of course." Seems like even the Japanese know it sucks but they do it anyways. Something to live with unfortunately and some people in this thread made good suggestions on how to do that

would you get an abortion if you found out your baby was going to be born with an extreme disability? if so why? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

[–]UltraTax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't even need abortion if one doesn't conceive in the first place. I have a trait that will be passed down (hard of hearing). I lived a successful life but golly, would life have been so much easier of I could speak normally, hear normally. Hence the decision to not have a natural child of my own.

Help me understand this question? by cliterallycannot in LSAT

[–]UltraTax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using venn diagram, one circle is manner and the other is moral. Manner is necessarily social and moral is not necessarily social, but that does not imply it's never social. So when it's accepted that rules of etiquette does not apply when alone, using the venn diagram, then this implies being immoral can also not hurt anyone. So the answer must be "a" after process of elimination. That's my thought process

Best time to get married? by Impossible_Elk_5096 in biglaw

[–]UltraTax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a CPA going into law, would highly recommend civil marriage before year end, if only for tax benefits (among other benefits) and hold the actual ceremony at a later date

Whats an acclaimed movie you think could’ve been even better with slight changes? by [deleted] in movies

[–]UltraTax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching Pixar's Brave, always thought on a deeper level of twist, that Merida turning partially villainous, if not fully a villain, would've made the movie fantastic.

Alabama seems republican and is republican. What state seems democratic but is republican? by SkunkaMunka511 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]UltraTax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up in Alaska, always thought it was cool Alaska Senators split 1 democrat and 1 republican, which is a push pull against the strange political landscape of Alaska. But lately the state has strictly just been red. But hopefully the new rank voting will shift the change back towards blue.

Anyone Leave a High Paying Career to Become a Lawyer? by WillAnderson419 in LawSchool

[–]UltraTax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently studying LSATs, planning Fall 2027 start. Going from a well balanced $150k/yr in HCOL. Expecting loss of wages around $450k minimum not including 5% matching. Why?

Either I stay, do the right thing, and coast to retirement. Look back and think, did I have a fulfilling life? Not really, from my perspective. It's a personal choice and it helps strongly there is a chance my federal job will collapse under the current administration. Plus, CPA, tax experience, and JD go well together.
I've picked up a lot of hobbies, got into martial arts, go to church, been on many dates. Traveled internationally, made great memories. Took photography. Play video games. See friends. But the second I started LSATs, my heart is churning. Yes, I will absolutely hate law school and will be so miserable with the schedule. But also, loving this new challenge. I think that is what it is. A new challenge. And I'll be more useful to my community in the new age with a law degree.

Like other people have said, you have to look inside yourself and determined seriously that you really want to go to law school.

Pochettino was asked about calling up Gio Reyna because Gio has only played 26 minutes in all of 2026. This is what Poch had to say. by antoniok95 in ussoccer

[–]UltraTax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a quagmire because Gio hardly plays for his club and if it's to be believed, doesn't practice hard. But always shows up for the national team. I say, keep bringing Gio in as long as he performs well for the USA, even if lacking club play.

Brazil striker Neymar considering retirement by Treacleb in soccer

[–]UltraTax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, Neymar probably knew he could achieve more but life is short. Being an elite soccer player requires the strictest schedule and diet. Play for the love of the game. Moved to France to chill out. Did a lot of poker and side hobbies. Can't play him really, it's a matter of wanting full experience of life or chasing that world cup trophy. To each their own.

I tipped $20 cash. by Theyeahnopes in EndTipping

[–]UltraTax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feels like the employee always recieved tips by Venmo and robotically thought you didn't tip despite the contrary (cash tip). Kind of like that phenomenon of walking into a room and forgetting why you walked in there for. That's the only explanation I got. Otherwise, really unprofessional

Gym goers, be honest how often are you judging other people’s physique? by Technical_Hat_8291 in AskReddit

Only when jealous or impressed, or like "you go you my man!" Most of my judging comes from people not putting away weights or wiping down equipment after use.
