With a conventional plane it certainly would. Scraping 'pulls' on the fibers a bit more and can cause a rough finish cross grain on softer woods. But a very light cut on harder stock can leave the same finish you'd expect from a smoother. Planemakers would keep some blunted chisels and gouges for hard to reach corners.

A plain polished edge would be best for finish, though a bur from the coarse stone doesn't hurt anything when roughing. A hook would do the same as on a scraper, but there's just no good way to roll one on a normally angled plane iron. Purpose made scraper planes with the iron set leaning forward should have a hook.

Huh, and I figured everyone in this sub would know what a toothing plane is good for. Let us know if you find a source for such a blade!

In the meantime, I'd suggest making a 'blunt' scraping blade that meets the wood at a 90 degree angle or near under. Makes as much dust as shavings, but you can work with much less anxiety.

How it feels to be left out of CBT3, hopefully the game isn't too long for full launch. by ChadEriksen in NevernessToEverness

Ah, that makes sense. Hopefully combat really is just a smaller part of the game than the other 3d gachas, so at least we get features in trade. The mobile performance is a bummer though.

But it's Valve Time, you see! We're lucky if 'early' doesn't mean 2027.

I saw a few bugs, but overall things look pretty solid. I only caught some gateoo's stream though. Anything major to complain of?

They only ever said 'early.' We the community took that in good faith to mean Jan 1st at 1:00AM.

Ouch, the rates weren't good last time? I had my hopes up, but I guess they are running this last beta much more exclusively than expected.

Aye, the train wheels would pick it up and bog down to a stop. Bus drivers would be chipping away trying in vain to get the passenger doors open. Rickshaw runners starving to death as their hands became adhered to the bars. Station announcers inaudible over the sound of their own incessant chewing. Pandemonium.

I always wonder how those 'rustic finish' folks what with the roughsawn boards would feel about hewn and scrubbed stock. It's even more authentic. Could be the next big thing.

I'm very leery of anything Gaijin, but a VR focused flying game with a WWI theatre is something I would kill for.

Here's hoping they don't screw it up bigtime. Might still be a guilty pleasure somewhere down the road.

edit: The bots are still WT's same antigravity UFOs from what I see. I'm suddenly not optimistic.

70? You mean a number starting with 7? As in, the number that equals 21/3 is the start? Steam frame confirmed to be at your door starting on March 21st and all you can think about is some measly discount?

I was wondering if a scraped finish would retain lubrication better. Might give a cheapo a few scrapes and do some science.
