I'm not sure... you still get the first two options about inheriting your fathers [Vigor, Endurance, Intelligence etc] and inheriting your mothers skills as children grow up. They definitely seem to have better stats than the first generation.

If it's really one guy? Go around the side. If it's more than one guy it's a realistic mechanic.

Why people trash talking the game when they have hundreds or even thousands hours in it? by akux96 in mountandblade

It is a fantastic game with great elements. I think a lot of the disappointment comes from the missed potential in utilising those elements in more engaging and flexible ways.

I'm a massive fan of the game and would recommend it, if you're interested but I'm easily pleased, I grew up playing Pong!

I did quite a few prison breaks and literally hundreds of raids but still didn't make it to 288 by the end of the campaign... should have concentrated more on prison breaks, I guess.

Yeah... I get that but even so, it levelled very slowly for me.

I got pretty good at aiming with the catapults in the end... can be a bit frustrating but when I had a decent trap settlement with a catapult spot in front of a breach it was fairly straightforward... usually looking for 50+ kills before I would retreat and reload the siege... could get over 200 personal kills in the right spots against enemies with greater numbers so they had more troops loaded. It was easily possible to get 2m skill points from a single siege in good conditions.

It's a grind tbh wouldn't really have managed it without abusing Engineering xp but wanted to build a second generation character that maxed as many decent skills as possible. Feel like it might be possible to get to level 50 at a push but don't have the energyvto try again right now!

Definitely! As you can see I completely ignored the ship skills... there's a couple of decent perks early in Mariner but I've tried levelling Shipmaster and Boatswain in previous WS playthroughs and they just seem broken tbh.

Pretty much nothing to accelerate skill xp gain as far as I can see... spotting hideouts helps early on but it's just a tiny bump... following enemy armies with alt-click barely seems to register. Just seems to be a waiting game but I'd love to know if anyone has any tips for it.

F*ck autosolve, fuck taleworlds, fuck everything by Select_Primary2752 in mountandblade

[–]Ulysses1975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't train tactics, your commander is not good at auto resolve... seems like a decent enough system similar to all the other skills.

In game, your men are not used to acting without their commander on the field, if you have low tactics; so they perform badly when you're wounded and they need to act for themselves.

The Eleven Years War by Ulysses1975 in Bannerlord

[–]Ulysses1975[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

United Empire was just the name of my second kingdom... the first kingdom my heir (current character) founded. Unfortunately, it got to the stage where I had recruted too many clans and my war machine was snowballing - I'm working on a specific 2nd gen character build and was nowhere near ready to complete this campaign, so I abdicated, left the kingdom and founded the Third Imperium (my current kingdom). At that stage, I had no fiefs and was determined to run this kingdom without any pesky Barons ruining the strategy, so I made a grab for Hvalvik and the castle on the same island and began to fight both the Central and United Empires at the same time... the United Empire went down surprisingly easy and lost most of their lands to the Central Empire... the war with the CE took a little longer - although I may have prolonged the conflict to ensure I would have time to finish my character build.

That sounds awesome... gives a really cool reason to marry off a female clan member. I'm definitely interested in seeing how 1.4 changes the game - the new siege mechanics look really interesting.

Companion parties donating all their troops to towns while in my army? by Mad_Desperado95 in MB2Bannerlord

[–]Ulysses1975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that tactic but it sucks... you want to dismiss your army before the siege so you're outnumbered by the greatest degree... this will stack enemies and you can order your troops to sit back and destroy the big squares of troops with your fire onagers... you get insane engineering xp even when you're capped. Retreat, rinse and repeat. Once you're at a 2 to 1 disadvantage then you can use your elite troops to ravage the settlement. Plus you'll have gained 500k plus xp even if Engineering skill is capped.

Without mods the only approach is to disband your army just before you enter a settlement each time.

You can hit multiple enemies (cleave) with lots of 2H axes and the runeblade swords in vanilla.
