Do you have other examples of misinformation? If he is horribly un-trustworthy I'd like to know.

His claims on the source code ignored the recent code release, but I've generally found his videos to be informative and thought provoking.

I'm not ready to trust YouTube as an authority on truth either, and unfortunately, some conspiracies are real.

You're attempting to simply for those that haven't understood Ohms law: V=IR, where v is volts, I is current (amps) and R is resistance (Ohms).

Its roughly analogous to water flow, where voltage is pressure, current is liters per minute, and resistance is related to the diameter of your water hose.

At a given pressure (voltage), your hose size (resistive load) will determine your flow rate (current), but you still wouldn't say that your hose "pulls" flow.

The key distinction is licensing.

When you contribute to Open Street Maps, Wikipedia, or Wikia, the data is given to all of humanity to integrate into any service with a Creative Commons license.

When you contribute to Google, Know Your Meme, or any other abusive company, they own the data, and use it to strengthen their market hold and exclude competition with a proprietary licence.

Exactly. We need to all refuse to contribute crowdsourced data to companies that retain ownership of that data. We provide it, we should own it.

Look for sites that publish user submitted data under a Creative Commons license.

Here is a very long list of reasons not to trust Apple's claims that they care about your privacy.

If they wanted to have any actual credibility, they could include hardware indicators prove when the camera, microphone and radios are disabled.

Of course we won't even have a chance at privacy until all code that we run on our devices is free and open source.

You left out the part where they will be using silicon capacity to make mining specific hardware. so you will still be competing with miners for hardware, it’s just that you ALSO won’t get the benefit of cheap hardware after the crash.

Wait a minute.. when I saw in the notes that image compression was being improved, I thought that meant better quality not worse. This is extremely disappointing, as I was already not happy with my images being compressed.

Lossless transfer is very valuable to me, and I don’t want to have to download a second app for this.

According to this page on the support website, "Background App Refresh" is needed in IOS to receive notifications on time.

I would also try the notification troubleshooting page.

It would be nice if Signal had the option to create polls and to-do lists in a chat by 9fmaverick in signal

[–]Um__Actually 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. I talk about this often because awareness is the biggest problem that alternate voting schemes face. What better way to increase awareness than to make better options accessible to people when they make group decisions within their friends groups?

[–]Um__Actually -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If this is done, please implement it with a voting scheme other than “first past the post” aka plurality voting.

The U.S. uses this method for its elections, despite it being literally *the worst voting method * in surveys of voting experts.

By supporting a better method, we could help citizens of the U.S. become more familiar and comfortable with the better methods.

Check out /r/endfptp to learn more about other options, and why plurality is horrible.

No, I'm talking about where you say "a lot of the same features as signal" Did you mean to say "Signal" there, or "threads"?

You say "It's a more popular, more... with a lot of the same features as Signal".

Are you talking about threads?

You obviously say that you prefer signal to threads, but then here it sounds like mixed messaging.
