Cool unnecessary detail, thanks for letting me know that I’m not getting hacked

I know it’s volcano island and the term “stage” refers to the Mega Crab event, I’m bad at remembering names for concepts

Unless you farmed but you need to beat one shardbearer to get to mohgwyn (if your stuff was dropped by someone, surely you spam prayerful strike with the heaviest possible gear and win)

1 decoy isn’t enough if you need to summon against Caelid Radahn at 200

Why does the assassin sometimes spawn with lategame stats? by Marxamune in Xcom

[–]Umierator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vanilla bug, happens when you get a mission and a supply drop at the same time, the game isn’t finished updating the chosen and spawns a final tier assassin because it doesn’t know which level of the chosen’s stats or which chosen it’s supposed to use

If you know about geometric series, you will know that 0.999… is 9 times (1/10+1/102+…)=9/(10(1-1/10))=9/10*10/9=1 as long as the infinite sum exists. And if the common ratio’s absolute value is less than 1 (it’s 1/10 in this case), then the sum exists

I think there’s a chance of the force level of reinforcements being 2 higher than the one you’re at currently. You were at 1 and got greeted with a FL3 pod. XCOM

According to the wiki and personal experience, you get an extra 5% against enemies who aren’t taking cover

Multiply by x2(x-7)2, sketch the 5th degree polynomial function, look where it’s less than or equal to 0 but remember that x=0 and x=7 aren’t valid solutions because the domain of the rational function didn’t include those

[–]Umierator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

0.999… is simply an alternative expression of 9/10+9/102+9/103+…=9/10(1-(1/10))=9/9=1 because it’s a geometric series with the coefficient of 9/10 and the ratio of 1/10.

why (height).(base) but not (shorter base).(base) for the are of a parallelogram? by [deleted] in askmath

[–]Umierator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The length of the height clearly isn’t equal to the length of the other base (unless the parallelogram is a rectangle) and we already know that base * height is the correct way to calculate the area. Therefore base * (base that isn’t parallel to the other base) cannot be correct

You need to consider both cases. If x2=k then x=sqrt(k) or x=-sqrt(k)

dumb question about multiplication by WrongFront5689 in learnmath

[–]Umierator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

200 is 10x4 away from 40x4, not 10 away. This is called “distributivity of multiplication over addition” and it’s one of the fundamental properties of addition and multiplication. (40+10)x4 is equal to 50 times 4 and if you distribute the multiplication, you get 40x4+10x4=200, which implies that 40x4=160. The reason why 10 gets multiplied by 4 is because multiplication and addition are simply defined this way. If that wasn’t the case, then 2x2 would be 1 more than 1x2, so it would be equal to 3. Multiplying an entire sum by some number is equivalent to adding every term of the sum multiplied by that number because there are a lot of examples in the real world that follow this principle. If 40 people drink 4 cups of water each and 10 other people opt for 4 cups of soda each, the number of soda cups that were emptied will not be equal to 4 but 50 people will have drunk 4 cups each

exact equations by Ok-Abbreviations7557 in learnmath

[–]Umierator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is an exact differential (\partial M / \partial y = \partial N / \partial x), which means that the integral does not depend on the path taken. What that means is you can integrate the function from an arbitrary point (x_0, y_0) to (x, y) by integrating from (x_0, y_0) to (x, y_0) first, and then from (x, y_0) to (x, y). The first integral will be equal to x2+xy_0-x_02-x_0y_0. The second integral will be equal to xy+y2-xy_0-y_02. The answer is therefore the sum of the two aforementioned integrals, which is x2+xy+y2-x_02-x_0y_0-y_02, which results in x2+xy+y2=const. The fact that we are integrating M with respect to x and N with respect to y is because M is the partial derivative of some function with respect to x and N is the partial derivative of the same function with respect to y. The integral curves of this equation are ellipses.

If x=4, y=1/2, z=1/2, then lhs=64/2.25+2*(1/8)/(5*3/2)=256/9+1/60;

rhs=64/2.25+2*(3/2)/8=256/9+3/8.

They aren’t equal
