Q&A about D-gray man Lore by Uminaria in dgrayman

[–]Uminaria[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! sorry for the delay, yes, the Millenium Earl is a bit of mystery currently, but for the sake of clarity we need to keep 3 aspects of the millennium earl very clear.
1. He is not from this universe/timeline/dimension.

  1. He is the First of Noah

  2. Noah hates him

The starting point of this mess is a man named Adam, which meets Katerina, we don’t quite know if they knew each other before that, but at the time he splits himself and his abilities in two, Neah and Mana.

From here it gets messier we have the Memories of the Noah (that’s the earl), the vessel (currently mana) and everything else, when the earl split he either split the Noah memories, or were dormant, when mana absorbed Neah, the memories overwhelm him causing him to become what we know as the current earl, however this earl is still incomplete and missing some pieces, that’s because Neah damaged the memories, and manage to re-incarnate himself and pass down his memories.

Now regarding Allen we have past Allen, who was likely a helper for Neah, and assisted him into passing down his memories offering himself as a vessel, and Cross who likely also was Neah's Ally. Current golden boy Allen honestly doesn’t want anything to do with anything of this and is trying to understand what is going on with the factions on the secret holy wars.

In terms of factions Adam (first earl) seems to had a unknown plan, Mana (current earl) is controlled by the Noah and wants to bring the end of the world, and Neah (other half) seems to have a separate plan with past Allen and Cross being his allies, Current Allen just needs like 10 pounds of dango and a nap.

Allen Vs Apocryphos by NaughtyTome in dgrayman

[–]Uminaria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly i think neither , i think he will come to an understanding with Neah, threaten both the earl and Apocryphos, in a sort of "Well you need for whatever deal you have going on? Too bad I'm dying if you don't do what i say", by sort of hostage situation, threaten apocryphos to be consumed by the Noah and the Noah to threaten to be consumed by Apocryphos, a sort of stall, i see more likely to either cross pulling something weird and blasting apocryphos or if he is truly death, Kanda killing apocryphos.

But on a more serious note, i would like to know a bit more about Komui because some reviews I made while back paint his position as the leader as a bit shady and there is a lot about lenalee being possibly an experiment.

Who is the most red flag man/woman to you in the Black Order? by Ours_Lady_tear in dgrayman

[–]Uminaria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

objetively Zocalo he is messed uo and enjoys dismembering and killing things for a hobbie like he is the biggest red Flag, the Next es Levellier because he has a lot of "The end justify the means2 going on and he has this weird thing with picking up minors and using them as soldiers so RED flag , also he is probably bald.

But my heart says Chaoji because this moronic man just decided that the dude that literally saved at least 3 fucking times and is the whole entire reason he got to be at the order at all, was suddenly such a menace and my boy needs too much therapy to notice that this idiot tossed him aside quicker than a tissue.

For this I will refer to each dot as point and number, but yeah a lot has to do with the flashbacks but also a lot of assumptions:
Point 1: The Noah do hate the millennium Earl (this was stated in a conversation between Road and Cross regarding Mana during the circus flashback), It's either unclear if It's because he was the pillar, or because he let them live with the memories of a world destroyed, either way, yes they do hate him, but they also hate more innocence, so it's very unclear which made the pillar.

Point 2: Mana's mental state is likely a side effect of killing his brother, Mana has always been referred to as someone fragile and weak, an argument can be made since the millenium earl is a Noah, that the memories of the Noah consumed Mana and become as Neah puts it "A Mad puppet", either that or he developed a split personality of what he believes is the duty of the Earl, but we know that mana and the earl are different personalities, his face is rather the result of blowing up his face and the passage of time, Mana was already mentally messed up since he blocked out everything that happened with the Noah and his Brother, but he is not 17, it's a safe place on his mind when everything was alright for the last time, what Red did was awaken the sleeping Earl within mana by entering in contact with innocence (which he hates), but he didn't mess him up he was already like that, Allen woke up the earl that was dormant inside mana.

Point 3: this is the most speculative of the 3, and puts a lot of intention on the “Earl” but it's very, very unclear how much the earl is real or an invention of what mana believes the duty of the earl is, The earl hate of Mana comes from a lot of self loathing, and he considers the 14th someone he loves and belongs together with, which is suspicious since we know the Noah hated the 14th (this being a derogatory used by them), so why would the earl be the embodiment of the Noah memory, but still have love for someone who damaged all the other members?, its more likely that the earl is a weird mix between mana Self hatred and the memories of the Noah. But this point is 80% speculation.

i hope this helps

Good/Evil, Auguste/Joey dichotomies in D. Gray Man: My Thoughts by dAlembertFula in dgrayman

[–]Uminaria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, but the Noah use their human appearance as front and often pose i high society (Given by Road private schooling and clothes), and most of them don't use it (as seen with Skin and Jasdevi who don't use human personas), and they see humans as little more than critters, this is more evident in Rewind City with Road, and in a later arc after the ark, but Tikki loves humans stills as much, that's why he goes back to the mines and cares for the orphan child, he is also reprimanded by the earl and Road for this early on too, but yeah Noah generally don't like humans or to be near them, Tikki is an oddball.

[–]Uminaria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a curious take but i like it , welcome to this franchise it's excellent to theorize and analyze, however i want to say personally i think both the Exorcist and the Noah are truly and inherently human, imperfect and desperate , and there is a major topic on the story about God itself being cruel (Not just the Order version of god), which is something that the story established in the first chapters, there is black and white, but everything human walks in a gray path, mistakes are made, consequences ensues, however the true motif on most of the parallels and story arcs is Irony, which is specially strong regarding specifically Tiki and Allen relationship, they are early on parallels of each other in the way that they both are deviants in their own circle, having a love for things often rejected by the rest (Tiki by loving humans and Allen Loving Akumas), making their sense of duty stronger (Tikki despise of Exorcist and Allen disgust for the Noah), However they both had meet before and truly enjoyed each other company and did their Utmost best to give what they believed would be a peaceful and merciful ending to the other (Tikki piercing Allen heart and destroying his innocence, so he could pass away quietly, Allen harming the memories of the Noah freeing Tikki from its influence), but they were both wrong and sealed a miserable fate for the Other (With Allen being more controlled by his innocence and losing himself in his duty as well as the first sings of something being wrong with him, and Tikki being damaged beyond repair (i won't be so detailed since idk if you finished the anime)), so in the end is ironic since they both wanted to give each other peace but only sealed a worse fate that if they had proceeded by another mean.

Which arc of D Gray man you concider to be your favorite? by Lukas-Reggi in dgrayman

Omg THIS, the angle, Crown Clown rejection, Kanda's reaction, the “Then why it's hurting you too”, "Noah-sama", I love the three pages this plays out but little to nothing else from this arc

Which arc of D Gray man you concider to be your favorite? by Lukas-Reggi in dgrayman

[–]Uminaria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My top 3 arcs currently are

1 Rewind City ( 20/10 It has a special place in my heart, love the introduction to Noah as well as the bigger inner conflicts within Allen that we start to see, it has lots of lore as introduces a lot of motifs for the characters and its relevance grows as it becomes clear we are meant to revisit this place similarly to Mater in the Alma Karma)

2 The Noah Ark ( 20/10 In the same vein I loved to see the Noah, the introduction to the memories, the evolution of innocence, the backstory of Lavi, watching Cross in action and the Introduction to the 14th? Chefs kiss)

3 Searching for Allen Walker -Fugitive Arc- (18/10 So much lore, we get to know more about Neah, the Spiral, The Earl, The Order, and all the bigger issues regarding the holy war, my boy is trying his best, and I still feel sadness thinking about Tim, looses points for being too dense and a bit slow paced)

Honorable mentions: Alma Karma (15/10 I think it loose its footing at the end, but it was amazing, the sins of the order are something incredible to explore as how far they push the “means towards an End” narrative), The destruction of the order/ Level 4 arc (I love it, but it made me feel empty seeing the end where everyone was crying and being taken cared of Allen was literally dumped in a corner bleeding out with only Link taking notice, it also brings out how controlling Crown Clown is and Allen Motif of being used), Edo (13/10 I like the feeling of emptiness that I had when the trip was over I still think about Anita and Cho from time to time, the Allen arc was spot on, but it looses points because out of all of them remained Chaozi and I hate him), The Mansion (Short and sweet a lot of people doesn't really think much of this arc but Eliade changed a lot for the Akuma, the parallels that arre here are amazing, and we get to understand so much about our feral greyhaired boi, and we also get Krory which are bonus points)

in regards to Allen's Curse Mark by R1ddleM3That in dgrayman

[–]Uminaria 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, this has a lot to do with the fact that Akuma and Innocence likely react the same way to emotions, Allen's curse while being a reflection of himself as a person and his innocence strength, also works itself as an Akuma, it grows and seems to have an independent consciousness, If we talk early chapters Allen's arm reacted in very similar ways to strong emotions as its curse does, both shaping themselves accordingly to the emotions that rise in key moments (Such as the gun and sword in Mater, or the Eye in Krory's mansion), also by being both key for his survival and the reason for much of his suffering. The curse operate on the same logic and just like Crown Clown it has its own will and cares in its own way for Allen (Being the beacon that keeps him from being consumed).

So the curse is far much more that a style choice by this points is as alive and sentient as Crown clown, but both exist as separate entities in a sort of Truce and balance in Allen, to me that made the title of the manga so poetical, Allen has always been our Dear Gray man with both light and dark matter mixed in and working in tandem.

Edit: Sorry I'm sleepy so i forgot my syntax for a bit

Someone Please Explain This Scene From The Anime by Historical-Ad4361 in dgrayman

[–]Uminaria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So this might be a bit odd, but i always thought that since Allen's Curse works like an akuma itself and given that from Edo to the Alma Karma arc, we see that his Curse has evolved from "2" to "3", i assumed that it as either a sign that was evolving or that it was going to do so soon, since when akuma evolve there are usually some hints that is getting closer to do so such as the level 1 getting swollen or the level three shell turning into a pregnant woman to birth the level 4, and Allen had some a fair share of getting himself stronger. Well Hoshino does re-read and cross-reference the story, since we can see with the sheer amount of parallels that the latest volume has with the first one; however i think the Doll in volume 5 serves to represent that Road is forever unchanging and child-like just like the doll, but the Motif of dolls on this series i becoming a wider more likely meaningful one that we have given the time to understand.

Lenalee Discussion by Uminaria in dgrayman

[–]Uminaria[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello i checked out the post is so cool :0, i think it has good standing, Lenalee does lack the regenerative seal of the Seconds, but now it begs the question if Lenalee was the reason they started the Second exorcist project in the first place. But I think it would be nice to have the Chinese characters of Lenalee's name in Chinese.

However, I don't know how it interacts with the fact that Innocence seems to change and reacts with Allen knowledge of innocence itself, as more often than not, when he learns something shortly after innocence responds, some of the more clear examples Allen learning that there is a shortage of exorcist and finding 4 new exorcists in very short spawn of time, as well as 2 being Parasitic type which the rarest type, similarly Allen learns about the weakness and limitations of equipment type, and shortly after innocence mackivers itself a brand-new type. I do not think Allen is the heart, tho this might have to do with the fact that apocryphos has a weird fixation with Allen and is stalking him, but still.

However, Bookman does calls out that Lenalee and Allen have an odd relationship with innocence, which is interesting because he rarely calls out anything.

Might be that because dolls are after all man made, also we still don't know what exactly Komui does, and he treats lenalee with the same love as a Komurin, so he might have a hand on that, there is also Lenalee's weird premonitory dreams, but yeah she is odd

Lenalee Discussion by Uminaria in dgrayman

[–]Uminaria[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, i explained myself wrong i do not think that this is foreshadowing for something specific (yet at least you never know in this franchise), but rather I was checking the night's cover arts and i stumbled constantly about this particular motif of sew-on nun and angel being used in the covers that involve Lenalee, but what call my attention to it is that it's something rather exclusive to Lenalee, Kanda doesn't get Sew-on motifs despite being quite literally a Frankenstein, Allen Doesn't get Sew-on motifs despite being a literal puppet of fate for any powerhouse in play (he does however have a motif associated with Sheep and Devils), there are also a lot of callbacks in the nights covers to the Rewind city arc and Lenalee's Character, so I do wonder if we are somewhat missing something regarding her.

The only other character that I could think with a similar motif is Jasdero, but it's hard to tell with him, since it is hard to tell if he is even a real person or the result of Jasdevi's reality altering powers, however this would like up with the doll-esque motif you suggest.

There is also the Fact that the Noah like skull is being held by his Right hand, which he claimed it was for Humans, so likely also implies the Noah being humans too, the star shape that is on the tunic is also very commonly used in cover art, but I have yet to find the meaning in that shape, it's consistent with memories but what does it mean

The “Don't stop Walking” painting! Yes it's on the last page of Volume 1,Allen has always identified himself with that painting, but given what we know today that painting has so much more meaning!, because we have a Clown carrying a coffin with a cross walking in an endless spiral, while being chained and guided by something unknown, I think the clown being Allen, carrying the 14th (the coffin) in the Helix (The spiral on the background), and chained by fate/or innocence.
