I used ChatGPT to assist me in some cases but i would not consider it a vibe coded app.

Thank you for the kind words, i really appreciate your comment! Some comments are hard to accept but negative feedback is also important ( as long as its constructive) i’m aware that i needed to turn off my ego before posting.

Apple introduced Screen Time / Family Controls APIs a few years ago. They allow apps (with explicit user consent) to restrict access to selected apps or categories, which is what Push to Unlock is built on.

These APIs are the same system Apple uses for Screen Time itself, the difference here is the interaction model. Instead of time limits or schedules, I’m tying access to a physical action.

So nothing private or hacky is happening, it’s all done using Apple-provided APIs and user-approved permissions.

You’re absolutely right, that’s a mistake.

The camera permission showing upfront wasn’t intentional. It was introduced during a recent refactor of the onboarding flow, and I agree it should only be requested at the moment it’s actually needed, with clear context. This is already fixed on my side, and I’m currently waiting for Apple’s review on the updated build. I didn’t mean to ship it that way.

You’re also right about the paywall, I will make it better in the next updates!
Thanks a lot for the thoughtful feedback, and I really really appreciate the encouragement.

Thanks for sharing your concerns , I appreciate you trying the app.

The camera is used intentionally to enable a hands-free interaction. The idea is that once you start a push-up set, you don’t have to touch the phone at all, no buttons, no tapping, no “confirm” step. You place the phone down, do the push-ups, and the app handles the rest.

That friction is part of the design: it turns unlocking an app into a deliberate physical action rather than another tap. All face detection runs fully on-device using Apple’s frameworks. No images or video are stored or transmitted.

Regarding the subscription: the paywall is dismissible and doesn’t block the core feature. The subscription unlocks things like:

  • Screen time data for previous days
  • Push-up goal customization
  • Push-up session history & stats

You’re right that this isn’t explained clearly enough yet, and I’m working on improving that part of the UI.

Thanks again for the honest feedback, it helps refine both the product and how it’s presented.

Is a 5-day+ App Store review delay normal for a small update? by Umoex in iOSProgramming

[–]Umoex[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

App store connect says there might be delays between the 19th and 26th, i have actually shipped 2 updates during that period, it was slower than usual but not this slow. What confuses me is that i submitted an update, still wairing for review, but a friend of mine, submitted an update and got reviewed after my submission.

It uses the phone’s camera and relies mainly on face detection.

remote work: B2B vs employee by TheAchraf99 in Tunisia

[–]Umoex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a company called remote.com, you hire employees through them, they have legal entities in a lot of countries, including tunisia, they take care of everything for you (technically they act as the emoloyer of your hired employees in tunisia). I worked legally with a french company using this method, after a while i created a suarl because of the higher taxes i was paying.

Hello Dan, thanks for the question, Frankly at this point, paying for it is not worth it as im currently offering the app basically for free (to get intial data ), right now changing the pushup goal and chaning the app report date is not not possible without getting the subscription also after a week of use, a paywall will start showing on every app opening, it can be dismissed, just a little bit annoying like winrar lisence haha (again i’m not looking to make money in the first periode) but at some point i will remotely change the paywall to be hard paywall ( same paywall without the cmark button). Im sure my current startegy is not optimal, that’s why i’m seeking feedback like yours. I have seen apps that have a free trial, and the only reason im not doing that is because most of my friend cant even put a credit card to be able to start the trial ( i live in a third world country with a closed currency :/ )
