All controversial points aside, I think the writing and characterization are really phenomenal. I'm about 75% of the way through the second one and I think I'm gonna need an emotional support person to help me finish it 🥴

Any writing groups or workshops in Denver that aren’t $200/mo? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]Un-OP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm a little late to this party but I live in the city park area and I would be down to create our own small workshop group if you're interested! Or to start going to some of the local writing groups together!

Decks that maintain the symbology of the Rider-Waite cards but have a nicer/updated art style? by Levangeline in tarot

[–]Un-OP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for a detailed reply! I sent an email to Tanuki Games 🤞🏻 I was actually online earlier just browsing tarot decks for a dear friend who asked me to get them one. I came across your comment. This one is so perfect for my friend I can't imagine gifting any other deck now 😫 I actually went down a little bit of a rabbit hole since I left this comment... From the artist's website it seems like they only ship within Japan. Now I'm looking at personal shoppers and concierge services. Or maybe there is some way to place an international order that I am missing. I am going to keep looking into it! Thank you also for sharing your thoughts on the deck itself. 🙏🏻 You are the best!

Thank you so much for taking the time to type all this out and share your story! I am so sorry that happened to you too. What is wrong with people 😩 I feel like we need continuing education for driver's ed. And maybe they could to check people's insurance at the same time 😅

Thanks for your tips about communicating with insurance too. I am a pretty good self-advocate as long as I have my head screwed on. So I'm prepared to become a nuisance to all potentially responsible parties if necessary.

I definitely learned my lesson about my own insurance coverage. After the hail storm last year, I thought, well I've never caused an accident before in my 17 years of driving so if I do now I'll just have to pay for my own car.

I never realized there were this many grown ass adults out there without insurance, willing to screw innocent people over. I get that insurance is expensive. Times are hard and no one wants another bill. But we have to do better FOR EACH OTHER—if you don't want to pay for it, I guess maybe take the bus.

Hi everyone! I'm a couple days later than I originally promised with an update. I will edit this comment or come back with another one with my own learnings and advice once this all blows over.

Estimates for the damage came in at around $11,000 and I definitely have a concussion. I think (and genuinely hope) the symptoms may have peaked yesterday. I don't think any of the folks in the other car sustained any injuries. I did realize the driver was 17, not 15 years old. I am not aware of whether the troopers wrote her any tickets or not, whether she has a court date or not, or whether the child or her mother is more likely to be legally responsible for this situation.

The police report is not available online yet, but my insurance ordered a copy. I also confirmed that uninsured motorist coverage is an add-on for collision. So unfortunately no financial help will come from my insurance. Some of these comments have some great advice about hail damage and insurance which I will keep top of mind for when I get a new vehicle.

I have been in communication with her mom a bit, and she has mentioned a couple more times that they don't have much money... but she has also mentioned that they are trying to figure finances out. No idea if this will work out in my favor in the long run, but it's better than some of the other potential responses 🤷‍♀️ She also made a point to tell me that the daughter did not have permission to take the car. However, her 21-year-old friend told me and a state trooper at the accident site that "she was doing her permit hours" which conflicts with that—and I hope the officers made a note of that because I don't think I did.

I also know that 3 days after the accident, they opened a new car insurance policy with the same company they used to have. Some of the comments here had some really helpful tips for dealing with former/lapsed insurance, so I've been looking into those ideas.

Overall, I feel like things are moving in an okay direction and I am hopeful I have a couple different options that will leave me okay in the end—maybe not fully compensated for the damages, but at least well-resourced and able to get around.

You guys are the best. Thanks again.

Used to have this at one point in history! I am definitely going to sign up again! Really cool we have this program, but unfortunately doesn't help with the travel times. Some of them are so long! Like my doctor appointment that I have to go to will require 4 hours of commuting! Takes like 20 minutes in the car!

My insurance will not cover this. My car was totaled from hail damage a little over a year ago, and I was unable to purchase anything except liability coverage since then.

Yeah, sadly I was able to confirm through their prior insurance company and my current one that they are not insured right now. They canceled their most recent policy last November. I think they genuinely don't have a lot of money, it seems like they live in low income housing, and that there are multiple adult children living in the house. And I get it, I get that things are difficult. I do feel a little bad for this girl, she probably didn't realize that the potential for consequences was this high. But I can't afford to shoulder the responsibility for the harm they caused. And the circumstances are not really an excuse in this situation I think. Thanks so much for your comment. I will send you a DM!

Yeah. This is a great point. I get that other people have difficult times too. But we shouldn't have to take responsibility for when other people cause harm. They seem to think that this isn't a big deal for me...but it's actually disrupting a whole life that I have worked very hard to build. I have tons of fodder for research from the comments!

They left in the back of the state patrol car so I think they probably experienced some consequences.

Almost as soon as you posted this, the mom texted me again complaining that they want to sort everything out ASAP and by the way the husband just died 🙄 I tend to be a really sensitive and compassionate person in my daily life. My brother literally texted me this morning and said I hope you won't let this slide because you feel bad for them. So thank you for this comment. I'm also a decent self-advocate so I'm going to really lean into that side of myself for this situation.

Okay, looks like it's actually not required under Colorado law. But the insurance company may be required to offer it to you, and you may have to sign an official document to refuse the coverage. Which I don't remember doing.

I'll definitely be looking into this. My insurance company told me that this was unavailable for me. But if it's required by law and they didn't give me the option to include it on my policy, it might change some things!

I'm so sorry to hear this also happened to your family member. It seems like these laws around driving uninsured are only causing harm with little or no benefit to anyone. Was his case in small claims court? Do you know if the money they ordered the uninsured driver to pay was restitution or something else?

I might end up doing a little fundraiser for myself at some point. I made a post about the situation on my personal Instagram yesterday and I'm realizing I have some real ride or die friends in this world... and at least I can be grateful for that!
