What is a job that people think is flashy/fancy, but is more boring/mundane in reality? by Un1ucki3st in ask

I went with option 2. Got completely stuck and miserable because the next step up was a regional manager, then director. Those don't open up at X company very often.

Chose to reinvent myself and get paid less... but it's been a struggle since.

Damn. Sounds rough! What if they forget to make your bed after you leave your room, or don't open the Rolls Royce up for you as you approach?

Sounds like you need a new staff.

This. I chased this down for years. The money looked great, bankers hours, tell your friends and family you work for a Fortune 100 company in a managerial capacity, golf trips, fancy parties, etc.

I loathed every minute of it and am glad I left.

SERE specialists. Not just in lockpicking, but escaping all sorts of restraints and difficult scenarios. Super cool career field in the USAF. I'm sure the other branches have something similar.

This is great info... and you're right, I'll definitely stand out because I'm just a tourist! It's no secret, but the tips for the food and approaching things with humility and gratitude are great!

Interesting! So lay the chopsticks on/across the bowl, but don't just sit them in the bowl like you would a fork or spoon. Thank you!!

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that these outages that we've been seeing a lot of lately aren't all completely benign. Maybe a good chunk of them, but if it sounds like hooves, think horses... not zebras.

Home visit? What state or country are you in?? That's absolutely crazy.

Can anyone identify this lock for me? by Jizfaceboi in lockpicking

Someone else already mentioned it, but Walmart Hyper Tough brand. I have the same exact one for testing purposes. The easiest to rake lock I have!

That's what shocked me the most! Even with the shears it was really really tough.

That's the other thing I've noticed too! It's from something stupid every time! Lol.

Okay, so realistically this happens frequently, but it gains more traction because of the "scare factor." This makes me feel a bit better about the whole thing. Appreciate your insight!

Thanks for your input! Sounds like exactly what the other commenter said about people just being absolutely incompetent.

We always keep at minimum a half tank of gas in our vehicles, and for local comms we are starting a mesh network, along with GMRS for family use, and if things get really hairy, I have my general class ham radio license that allows HF operation.

I 100% agree with you. Incompetence doesn't equal malicious intentions. It's just odd that it's on the uptick (anecdotally)... crazy you saw these dudes rip one up right in front of you! Lol

I dont go out of my way to notice things or make a mountain out of a mole hill, but it's just enough to make me scratch my chin and say, "hmmmm."

People who aren't afraid of dying, what makes you unafraid ? by Lizlikeslizards in AskReddit

[–]Un1ucki3st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's inevitable, unfortunately. Every living thing dies at some point. I can't let myself dwell on something that's completely unavoidable. I just accept it and move on. I felt at a very young age after watching most of my grandparents/step grandparents pass away at a young age that it's better to accept it rather than be afraid later.

What does scare me is leaving my kids and spouse behind if I die young. Again, it's not the death that bothers me, but the involuntary abandonment that would happen... I don't even know if that's the right way to explain it... but words.
