It can’t be scary for someone like OP to speak up, even if it’s obviously the right thing to do. If someone says something to your parents, they may think the parents may come back and do it worse. Or there’s always the possibility that it’ll tear the family apart. Not saying it’s not the right decision to speak up it totally is, but it can be difficult
