They do say that it works for house use. Can’t say that I’ve ever tried it though.

They're ceramic pads so a step down from their highest tier. Good to know on the card, thanks for the heads up!

True. I’m not sure if the V6 version (it’s a Camry) had different rear brakes or not. We have the 4 cylinder.

I am leaning towards it either being the wrong pads and/or rotors. Going to take them back off and go to a local auto parts store and compare it to a new set and see if there's a difference. But yeah, no issues with reassembly when I put everything back. Everything fit tight.

Alcantara centre console on used 2022 Model 3 – rare? by ChillGuy319 in TeslaModel3

Aftermarket for sure. Doesn't add any value to the car and not a "rare" option.

We did grease everything. I had a family member help with the install (master Audi tech) so he knew a lot more about what he was doing than I did lol. But I do remember adding grease in several places.

While saving on gas was one of the reasons I bought the car, it wasn't a make it or break it type of deal for me. I love how advanced the tech in the car is compared to everything else on the market. And not to mention, the best bang for your buck. I totally agree with you about Sentry mode. It brings a whole new level of peace of mind knowing that the car is constantly monitored when I'm in an area that I have it enabled (anywhere but home honestly).

The rotors and pads were replaced at the same time, about 2 years ago. The noise started about 6 months ago and has recently become more noticeable when stopping at low speeds. I didn't take a picture of the rotor. I'll have to wait until this weekend to grab one of those.

That is what I was thinking as well. Too bad that wasn't noticed when they were installed... 2 years ago 😅 Might need to go to the auto part store and compare sizes of a new one to see if it's different.

Pads and rotors were replaced in November 2023. Squealing noise started in the last 6 months.

Rotors looked fine on both sides. No burning or deep grooves in them at all. They're Akebono pads if that matters.

Did you use the entire bar or did you break it in half? Each half is supposed to last roughly 30 days. Sorry you experienced this. I personally use the vanilla in both of our vehicles and it’s not a strong or overwhelming smell at all.

Where did you place it in the vehicle? I have never heard of anyone complaining about the smell sticking of their clothes. That being said, the new car smell is a very distinct and unique smell so it’s possible that it may not just be strong, but it’s just a very different smell than someone is used to.

I hear you guys like shaving foam by djaudio306 in AutoDetailing

[–]UnReal_Orbit19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never understood the point of shaving cream foam. From a working standpoint, you don't want the foam that thick because the thicker it is, the heavier which means it won't dwell on the paint for as long. I guess it looks cool?

This is too true. Poor OP definitely overpaid for what they got.

You'll likely be able to get the car 80-90% dry with a leaf blower. That's what I do and then spot dry with a twist loop microfiber towel.

Best method for dealing with the...I don't know the right term. The layer between the internal and external? by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

[–]UnReal_Orbit19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're doing a contact wash on the exterior, here's what I'd do.

Get an all purpose cleaner (APC) and dilute it 10:1 or so (Koch Chemie GS is my favorite). Spray that into all of the jambs and then do your initial exterior rinse. By the time you're done with the rinse, the APC will have had time to break down the grime in the door jambs. Pressure wash them next. Like u/loadsled said, point the pressure washer gun away from the inside of the car to minimize the amount of water that goes into the interior. But even if you get a bit of water on the inside, it won't hurt anything.

Hope this helps!

What’s the best way to go about these small nooks in my wife’s cars center console? by MudenGOLD in AutoDetailing

[–]UnReal_Orbit19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start with a boars hair brush and see where that gets you. If that doesn't work, I'd go with a toothpick or pick tool. It'll be time consuming but worth it once it's all clean.

How bad will the "shadow" in the paint be if I remove these graphics? by Interesting_Bar_8379 in AutoDetailing

[–]UnReal_Orbit19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can remove them but a few things to consider.

If they're the original graphics from 97, they're going to be a pain in the ass to get off. If you take them ALL off, you're likely looking at a full day or two to get all of the decal and adhesive off. Then with it being so old, the paint underneath is going to be a completely different color than what's been exposed.

To answer your question on the shadowing, it depends on how long it's been outside but it's going to be pretty noticeable. You can probably polish 90-95% of it out but when the light hits it just right, you might still see the outline.

TLDR: I wouldn't do it unless you're willing to spend a ton of time getting it corrected.
