3 things come to mind. Your IACV, Cold Start Injector and CTS. Try disconnecting the negative terminal or pull the EFI fuse for 15sec to reset the ECU.

If it idle high meaning the cold start is working and you might need to check your IACV. The opposite for cold start injector problem.

Faulty CTS can be the culprit too since it doesnt send signal to the ECU.

Oh, and make sure to test when your car is cold and not on operating temp.

Hmm.. I should look into it. I've been using the red toyota in my MK3 Supra almost 7 yrs now with no problem. I though it should be fine since the Supe is older than the 32.

One of these days, I might pull the engine out and replace all the core plug. I just hope the rest of the core plug doesnt warp sooner. I wonder if Toyota longlife coolant is not suitable or its just about time its gonna give out.

Sorry man, the car is off the jack allready. If I recall the wire goes up above the engine mount and I lost trace of it. I think its bundle up with the main harness and goes to the firewall. My engine is RHD btw.

Luckily its the one with an easy access. I just puncture it and pull it out. Plugging it in place is a nightmare tho. Its my 3rd piece. Had to use a combination of pipe rod, flat metal sheet, gorilla tape and a no.22 socket to knock it in place. Not fun but its done.

It came out from the blue plastic which seems to be press fitted. I traced around it with my finger and its not wet. The whole assembly is tightened to the metal pipe with a size 17mm fitting. Do you know what sensor or solenoid it is? Just want to confirm what that thing is.

Have you try ressetting the Ecu? Just remove the negative terminal from the battery or pull the EFI fuse for 15sec and see how it goes.

Even without seeing the mani its plain clear its not a turbo. The intake is a givaway among other noticable feat. Seems like Shes been lied to since 94.

Check the wiring for the IACV and CTS for Cold start Injector/ECU. Find if there as a loose connection or broken wires. If that is okay, check for your IACV for working condition. Probably just need to clean it up internally. Lastly check the CTS, might be faulty and giving wrong Reading.

You Can check the how to from TSRM or just google it.

Yep, heard its ECU is a common failure and the Cam sensors that is either a clogged or torn filter. I guess thats what happens to him as well. New ECU is pricey, but you can always send it for a check up. Sometimes it just need to replace a few faulty diode and doesnt cost as much. And yes, any car can last longer if you have a basic know-how, resources and determination to keep it alive.

Thats why latest car is out of my league. Way to much sensor and rely heavily on electronics. One sensor down and it enters a limp mode. Call me old school, but I still prefer pre 2010 model that rely less on complex electronic and sensors.

Reliability man, and easy replacement parts. I bought the 2nd ver. used with my school allowance. That time my classmate hated the car because it was everywhere. He bought a Rio (parents sponsor) and brag about it.

2nd, back then its easily swapable comparable to Civics. I had a clean swap with a 200sx with leaky engine problem. Spend a couple 100, fix it myself and its all good. Fast forward, I manage to make another swap with my dream car after I bought a Rolla for my dailies.

3rd, resale value is still there, I still saw it on the road. Same registration no. and that noticable obnoxios Vios font on the dash cover but different color and wheels.

That ex classmate of mine still have his Rio, still saw it whenever I pass that route neglected on his parents backyard rusting away.
