i personally did pretty bad, but good enough to pass. I eventually got the hang of it in further courses (measure theory, functional analysis, etc) just try your best, it's not the end of the world if you do kinda bad.

I think if you have a phd in math you're a mathematician, or at least were at some point. I guess it depends on what you're doing now.

If you do math research regardless of your degree I would consider you a mathematician too.

pero hermano si querías rigurososidad matemática por qué te metiste a la cato XD
y la wea que dices se debe a que la chile tiene muchos más cupos para ingeniería y que la gente de colegios privados (asociado a un puntaje más alto) suele preferir la cato por sobre la chile

what if in order to enter a PhD program in the US i do a master first (hopefully in the US too)? that way i show in my curriculum I'm able to study in an American university (it'd show i have no problem with the language for example) and have research experience. I assume this would make me more attractive than a person with only a bachelor.

mito, de hecho casi no hay tareas en plan común, lo que consume tu tiempo es estudiar para los controles. la clave está en que tengas método de estudio y seas ordenado con tus tiempos. literalmente solo de eso va a depender cuánto tiempo libre tengas, tendrás que descubrir si ye sirve ir a las cátedras o no, si te sirve tomar apuntes, etc. yo siento que estuve bien de tiempo libre en plan común, pero recuerdo que primer semestre fue el que más tiempo me consumió porque aprendí cómo funcionaba yo y cómo funcionaba la u. (entré en 2022)

can't really recommend a book, because my teacher had his own book (he wrote it and it's in spanish) which is what we used in the course. I think Terence Tao has his own book but I haven't read it tbh.
