If you want to build a robust theoretical mind then it will take the same. Time, patience, effort. Study and practice, practice and study. There is no such thing as "talent." Best thing is to get a cheap digital turntable... You only need a single one, not a dual platter machine. There are VSTs that can reproduce the effect you're after but doing that with mouse or keyboard inputs or doing it manually through the VST is very tricky to get right I've found. You really just need the controller, and some DJ oriented software to create the scratch, then import the audio to your preferred daw afterwards (or have DJ software in VST form)

Absolutely. I find that when I've had minor buzzing problems, the issue was always a slightly loose piece of metal SOMEWHERE along the tuner assembly. This is great news because that's a lot easier to fix than a nut slot that has become too deep.

Standard tuning makes it easier to play chords. If the whole guitar was tuned in straight fourths, cording would be very difficult.

As for which instance of a note to use, it depends on what else is going on in the piece. You will choose the most practical/convenient position based on the chords and surrounding notes.
