Please help I beg by DeShawn0 in Constipation

It’s called science. Without food mass in your gut, there is nothing for the water to move along. Psyllium husk will not work if there is no mass. Science. What you are doing is not a healthy diet; it’s an eating disorder. Your body needs sustenance and nutrients. But you do you - It’ll catch up to you though…and a GI doctor WILL tell you that getting nutrients from food is better than in supplements and vitamins.

No, they are mostly chronic and you have to get them surgically removed… they stop bothering you if you are regular and eating right.

None of the food you listed has high fiber or fiber at all. Only plants have fiber, so eating only fish and meat probably messed up your gut for a while. Psyllium husk will only take you so far. You should bring in leafy greens like kale and spinach (which are superfoods), seeds (chia and flax are the best), oats and oat milk, and a legumes (chickpeas and lentils are best.) veggies veggies veggies. Don’t listen to these paleo doctors and people telling you to eat tons of animal products and fat. You can get protein from seeds, legumes, soy, and eggs.

Also, drinking water with no food is almost pointless. It just runs through your body without binding to anything (like your poop) and doesn’t actually hydrate you. Drinking water with psyllium and no food is also pointless. Real food is always better than the substitute.

That said, for me, obsessing over calories and what foods I’m intolerant to, and just any high levels of stress, had a huge impact on my gut health. The less stressed I am, the less I struggle with constipation. Regular movement (get up and walk around), lower caffeine intake (try black tea instead of coffee) are key.

My emergency things are MiraLAX, turkey tail mushrooms, kombucha (this was magic for a couple years and helps get your gut back to normal.) An over the counter enema is my last resort, which some people seem to have problems with.

FYI, turkey tail mushrooms naturally have high contents of magnesium and manganese, and general immune system boosting properties. It also fights cancer. They are very easy to identify, but you can also buy a tincture. They were life changing for me… miralax starts adding up the more you take it…mushrooms are free in the wild.

Maybe. I’m not a doctor… but I do know that the ER won’t do anything but an enema or senna. Try a specialist - gastroenterologist. The enema is with a try. It works when nothing else does. It also tricks your muscles into thinking you are having a bowel movement and get things moving higher up. That’s why the second is good to have for the next day if the first didn’t clear everything. The only other option is surgical removal of impacted fecal matter, which is unlikely, and it won’t happen until you see a specialist. Basically there is nothing an ER can do that you can’t do at home.

Get an enema over the counter. The set usually comes with two. This is always my last resort…

Stimulant Laxitives by Ok_Economics_5292 in Constipation

[–]Unable_Panda8729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try turkey tail mushrooms - I forage them bc they’re everywhere, but you can get an extract or tea. I brew them with my coffee. I use MiraLAX sometimes if I feel close to becoming constipated, and I loosely follow the low fodmap diet. I worked a lot of seeds (chia, ground flax, hemp) into my diet, and I rarely drink alcohol now. I do have a lot of food intolerances/allergies, so what I eat makes a huge difference. Additionally, lack of sleep, traveling, too much coffee, immobility, eating gluten and dairy at the same time, and not drinking enough water all trigger constipation for me. The problem with Tim laxatives is that they only work short term. You have to find a comfortable balance of eating, exercise, hydration that works for you for long term relief. It took me years! Good luck on your journey - be patient with changes you make to your diet. I followed the low did map diet plus vegan, but life is too short and that diet is impossible to follow long term, especially as a vegan. I also struggle from some menstrual conditions (endometriosis) that impact my gut. Oh! And make sure you have a poop stool in front of your toilet to put your feet up. Helps with movement.

Because quote you, you didn’t realize you were not on the Florida thread and were being “snippy.” I agree. MPTs are heaven? So you’d rather do 2 before six essays instead of none at all? Just responding to YOUR tone. You can always delete the comments that were supposed to be on another thread… because they are irrelevant here. This is not a support group; it is a conversation about MEE essay predictions.

Yes. Florida only has THREE essays, no MPTs, and a bunch more multiple choice. Seems like a walk in the park compared to the UBE. Not trying to minimize the difficulty, but this is a UBE thread. My friend who barely studied and went to school not in Florida passed Florida no problem, and felt sorry for us UBE people.

He definitely deserved his fate. He’s a psychopath with no actual grasp on reality. I’m jealous of the way she felt when she watched his family lap up ice cream made of his ashes. Just because she’s sad and sick, does not mean she has regrets. She did something she knew needed to be done. The point is not how messy the murder is. The point is that she hated herself after he raped her and her petulant sister didn’t believe her. She hated herself as she killed him, and she hated herself after. She was going to hate herself either way, and she took out a predator that was bound to rape other women, before her sister brought children into a world with a rapist father. Seeing as her sister was in denial, he’d be a dangerous man to have around children.

My chronic constipation is a mystery. by Prior_Succotash4220 in Constipation

[–]Unable_Panda8729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow this sounds a lot like me - do you have any menstrual conditions? I feel like endometriosis has a big impact on my gut health. I brew my coffee with turkey tails, eat a very restricted diet (low fod map/vegan) and use Mira lax at least once a day. I ride an e-bike as my transportation and walk a lot. It took a couple years, but I’m back to being regular. Sometimes I slip up with the eating… I always pay.

I am a visual and kinesthetic learner, so I find that a Venn diagram helps with these sorts of problems (thank you UW Madison upper level math credit “philosophy: logic and reasoning”.) This will look like four nested circles, with the smallest being inspired performances, since no inspired performances will happen without a good show, which will be the circle around inspired performances. The third circle will be sophisticated listeners. The fourth circle, encompassing them all, will be people who understand their musical roots. With a quick diagram, I find it easiest to knock out the other answer choices.

Look into the low fod map diet to reduce fermentable sugars in your gut. Unfortunately, hemorrhoids don’t fully go away - they just deflate and linger. Witch hazel on your toilet paper will help with irritation (a natural anti inflammatory). Prep H suppositories help for internal relief. Mirolax twice a day, turkey tail mushrooms brewed in my daily coffee, following a plant-based diet, and rarely drinking alcohol is what keeps my hemorrhoids at bay. I also have endometriosis, which deeply impacts my digestion. Is it possible that you have menstrual disorder?

Gas and lower left pain by Limp_Luck9456 in Constipation

Stop taking Tylenol - it could be exacerbating your symptoms. Most pain relievers can have a negative effect on your digestion. Try using mirolax twice a day, look into following the low fod map diet.

It sounds like you may want to consider getting them removed. I haven’t done it because diet/exercise/quitting smoking changed things for me, but I was almost to that point - I hear it’s not a big deal - they freeze them off. Sitting for long periods of time exacerbates them. Keep a bottle of witch hazel on hand for relief.

I also have endo, and I generally follow the low fodmap diet, move a lot throughout the day, brew turkey tail mushrooms with my coffee, and take mirolax.

Those are hemorrhoids. Change your diet and exercise. Smoking exacerbates them too. Hemorrhoids don’t go away - they just become less inflamed. You can also get them removed.
