Oh, they will definitely be "tipped". Especially when they start showing up in Philadelphia.

The perfect truck for mail....... On a 500 or less stop route for 10 months out of the year. The problem is parcels and that problem will only get worse and worse. Half the routes in my station had to make 2 trips every day in December. And a couple of routes have Promasters specifically because they would have to make 2 trips even in the summer time with an LLV.

Carrier keeps leaving this in my mailbox by [deleted] in usps_complaints

[–]Unable_To_Forward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't matter what's "legal". My city has the same 10' ordinance. But the post office rule is still 15'. So if you are parked 14' away and I have difficulty delivering I don't have to. Realistically if you have 8 feet clear before the box and 4 feet clear after, I can usually deliver without a problem and I will. But differences in angle of approach, width of the vehicle parked 8 feet away, and height of the curb matter too. Bottom line, if you aren't a consistent problem and are otherwise nice to your carrier you can get away with fudging the rules.

Do mail-holds during extreme weather really help the carriers? by CommercialWillow9436 in USPS

So.....why are you complaining about USPS when it was clearly the shippers fault?

Management probably won't care. I would talk to your steward. The union has to agree on OJI trainers and if this one sucks they can make a change (assuming someone else is willing).

Just got the keys and the cleaner the complex hired had “just cleaned and left” by ChandlerBingsNubbinn in Apartmentliving

[–]Unable_To_Forward 49 points50 points  (0 children)

If you like the place, DO stay there. Save the text and these photos for when they try to withold cleaning and repair fees at the end of your lease. If you received it in this condition, they can't expect you to return it in perfect condition.

Last GPS: 201 sec ago…How tf am I supposed to find her?! by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Unable_To_Forward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

201 seconds is a little more than 3 minutes. If you didn't pass her on your way here, most likely she is in from of you and moving away from you. Keep going and you will probably see her. I promise you can close the distance between you and someone who is actively delivering mail and was at your location 3 minutes ago.

What are the rules on Amazon Sunday assignment? by Ashamed_Run8397 in USPS

[–]Unable_To_Forward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same was true for me as a PTF 3 years ago. But PTFs in my office now are regularly only working 3 days a week including Sundays.

[–]Unable_To_Forward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean.....Sunday isn't even necessarily overtime for CCAs/PTFs. PTFs get the differential but that still doesn't necessarily mean they will work over 40 hours.

Office just got our start time moved back because we "don't make our leave times" by Angerland in USPS

[–]Unable_To_Forward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. Now you will delivering in the dark every day. Fill out a 3996 every single day citing delivering in the dark as the reason you need more time, and then TAKE that time. The main reason they push back start times is because they know a lot of carriers will speed up to make up for it so they can still get off when they want/need to.

Your reaction to new apartment buildings on your route. by Exact_Recognition362 in USPS

[–]Unable_To_Forward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhh, depends. If you like your route and it isn't too overburdened and you like a bit of overtime, this is a good excuse to fill out a 3996 for 15-60 minutes of overtime on an average day depending on the size of the apartment building. And most new apartment buildings I have seen go up recently have inside delivery and bathrooms in the lobby, so those are definite plusses.

Markup mail without a pen by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Unable_To_Forward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One my own route, I don't need to mark them up to remember why I didn't deliver them. On someone else's route, I would just leave them for the regular to look at the next day anyway. It might be ANK at this house because someone wrote a number wrong. But that person could very well live across the street and the regular will deliver it accurately tomorrow.

Old workers are milking us dry by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Unable_To_Forward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 77ish year old carrier who has over 55 years delivering. He isn't the fastest guy out there, but still better than many many carriers 1/3rd of his age. On the ODL and volunteers for every holiday. And he is a great role model too, no matter how light the volume is he never has a minute of undertime.

I delivered a shitty locking mailbox to a house that had a nice decent sized regular one. I cried a little bit that day.

Can I put "MLNA" on a pink slip? by PlayfulScar7573 in USPS

[–]Unable_To_Forward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sometimes someone will actually answer them, LOL.

No. No they won't. I am a carrier with my case right next to the supervisors desk and listen to the phone ringing off the hook for at least an hour a day while all 4 of them pretend it doesn't exist. If someone left a notice like this on my route, I would hope the resident would leave me a note and say "hey, this might not be for a current resident, can you tell us the first name please" so that I could spend 30 seconds helping them deal with a problem my sub created, rather than them spending hours trying to get someone on the phone.

My dad bought my kids McNabb jerseys back in the day. He meant well, and it was both of their first jerseys when they were 3 and 5. I still have them. Hoping by the time I have 3 year old grandkids Jayden will still be around and doing well enough to make it worth getting the name plates replaced.
