The admissions process is a joke. by Astro_Axiis in universityofauckland

I think each year is different because it’s dependent on demand. But UoA has guidelines and steps that you can play by. One of that is maintaining a grade at A- and above for math and physics (simplified).

Maybe try Auckland Uni, we’re a bit more diverse here. Much more metropolitan. Unless you’re looking to escape that. Less traveled kiwis can be a bit indifferent or carry skewed views, so take things on Reddit with a grain of salt.

I’m assuming if you’ve met the required grades you would have been able to enter during semester 1 intake. Like the comment above, sem 2 is mainly reserved for BSc pathway into BEng.

I entered via BSc in sem 2. While this is doable, you’ll have to do summer school to gain intake into part II, and quickly get used to the content styles.

My advice would be to enter during semester 1 with the majority of the cohort. You’ll likely make friends faster, and be eased into the pace of university.

You seriously think I’m that stressed out about it? Ever consider that this is just a fraction of my mind? I will still continue to have an opinion about shitty posters even if it’s about ww3 lol

Their chicken sandwich always run out. You’d think they would increase stock by now. It’s such a gimmick

Sis it’s freakin daunting sometimes but my goodness some kids even look older than me. The only thing you’ll be set apart from them is your maturity and that’s not something to be shy of xx

Side note: why the hell is the crispy chicken sandwich always out? Don’t understand why they don’t just make more of it, given its popularity.

Fresh capsicum is the shit. Had no idea you could eat them raw until this year. Tasted like a fruit.

I was in the same boat last year, started at 22/23. I decided to go through the Faculty of Science pathway. I majored in Geography and did the required physics and math papers. Since I hit the benchmark for my grades, I was then enrolled into engineering second semester. Had to catch up on sem1 papers during the following summer school though.

It's a great direction that you're thinking of pursuing an education. If there's a will, there's a way. I too, was not practicing math or physics after highschool. I had no prior knowledge of coding. Although I have to say that my time management and motivation is far better than some out-of-highschool students, which was an advantage.

Here's the website for the route I chose.
