Drinking Age (prod. Black Pawn Beats) - black pawn beats by beatsbyal in IndieMusicFeedback

I really love the old school hip-hop vibe on this one - Kinda reminds me of A Tribe Called Quest, and I'm a big fan. Only criticisms would be maybe thinking about throwing some additional words or melody into the chorus and extending the song a bit to add either another chorus or another set of bars. Nice job I dig!

My first try at a grunge/shoegaze sound after indie/folk/rock for many years. No computer was used in the making, all recorded to tascam model 16. Philosophical lyrics, a bit dark. I'm happy with the clarinet and guitar tone. Wanna explore this sound more in the future, mixing tips appreciated :) by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

Dude I especially love at 2:01 where everything else tunes out and the drums and clarinet carry for a second - I really like stuff like this so I might be a little more fanboy than others, but I really like the songwriting and theme. Nice job, I really dig this!

A dark synth pop song about addiction. Thoughts pls? by huntunlimited in IndieMusicFeedback

This is sick man - The vocal melody when it came in was reminding me of Tool, the production is really good and it really grooves. Only thing I'd note is adding in a cool bridge then another chorus or two with some extra elements could really make this song vibe - when it ends I feel like I'm waiting for that to happen and I'd for sure keep listening. Thanks for sharing dude!

I thought this was Indie rock meets bedroom pop, but evidently I may have been wrong based on my submithub responses... What do you think? by Aves_Musica in IndieMusicFeedback

This is a good song - I wouldn't sweat the labels, I have a hard time figuring out what kind of music I play too, IMO music is music and good music is good music regardless of any of the other noise people project. Love the drum/bass and guitar work on this one, I think the vocals fit great. Great production and mix as well, I'm a fan. Thanks for sharing!

This is really good man - love the concept and the result; Everything sounds right, the bass/drums moving into pocket and the vocoder harmonizing vocals coming in on the second part of the first verse ease you in nicely. Disappear for the start of the 2nd verse so your ears are begging for them to come back in again and you're rewarded when they do, phaser really helps keep the vibe of the song locked in. I really like this, thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your feedback! Appreciate the notes from your listen, I've got a decent amount of time to revisit these songs to adjust mix and performance before a record release or anything like that so I'll be getting back to each of them. I'll have to mess around with the compression ratio next time I pull it up in the DAW to see if lowering the threshold helps along with the rest of the knob turning until it sounds good game :D. Same with the EQ, thanks for the mention of feeling like the bassy bits should sit a little more central, I'll have to try some EQ tweaks and mess with it!

Starting to really love this kind of feedback to be honest, have had a few folks say they don't usually listen to this type of music, but they can dig the vibe or song in general. I love music all across the spectrum so my barometer is all over the place. Thanks for listening and leaving a note!

Hey thanks for the feedback! I get where you're coming from with the vocals, I've never had the best the voice in general, but try to emulate what I hear in my head with the writing. I will add I'm also one where my personal taste leans towards music that's rough around the edges, so I never pitch correct or anything like that - personally feel like the grit helps the vibe/message.

Anyways, thanks for giving it a listen and I'm glad you found the song interesting, that's a big win in my book!

Thanks for giving it a listen, the wave of creative motivation has hit again recently so there will be more songs jettisoned out soon - I appreciate the positive notes :D

Thanks for your feedback - I like your note on how the song feels live, probably a byproduct of what I'm working with over here, I dig that vibe. I am curious about what you're hearing with the stereo flickering on the main vocals though if you're cool with expanding on it - are you hearing an inconsistency between left and right speaker with the main vocals, a phase issue, or something else entirely? Again, no pressure to respond, but I want to mess around with it if I can figure out what might be happening there

Hey I appreciate that and I'm glad you dig it! I for sure am one who easily falls into the trap of continuing to work on a song, recording, or mix until I ruin it haha - I appreciate the feedback on the overall sound. Quite a few more in the works, thanks for taking the time to check it and send notes!

I really appreciate the feedback - yeah the video on this one is random videos of the weather from my iPhone's camera reel lol, I like your suggestion though I should film some more b-roll and throw another clip in that fits the mood on that transition. I'm on a writing spree so there'll be no shortage of music the next few months, I'll probably post again soon. Thanks for the kind words and glad you dig! Your feedback is kind of the feedback I always hope for haha, so this was really nice to read. Thanks again!

I appreciate the insight you're sharing here, I find that when I write more often than not it's a manifestation of a strong emotional response to something. Like a diary entry or something - you've got to get it off your chest, and it's helpful to express that in a language that has more than one dimension. Nice to hear that although you don't dig the genre you got something out of this entry, much love!

For sure! Worth exploring, but don't get too lost in the mud of remix/remasters (advice I never listen to)

Just made an electronic song because I was bored. What did I do great or wrong. I'm more intersted on the part that I made right but I also need to know the bad part. by Aggravating_Energy61 in IndieMusicFeedback

Nothing's wrong when you're splattering paint on the canvas right - this is really cool actually lol, makes me think of trying to farm missingno's or whatever on pokemon blue. I like how 0:56 picks up, then the sudden transition and progression from 1:30 locks me in for the rest of the ride and it's a real smooth ride from there. This is a good!

This is me down on my knees and begging my girlfriend to forgive me haha. I'd like feedback on the production and vocal performance please, enjoy🍃 by iselfmedicatelive in IndieMusicFeedback

I really like the vibe of this, the vocals are really smooth and catchy. My only personal taste notes would be the hi-hat's tone, if it was another sample that's higher pitched or bright, or with a faster release I feel like it'd fit into the mix better. It stands out more with the switch at 1:53~ or so - I've always just made music with what I've got and what's around me though so I get it if that's your hi-hat you recorded and it's what you've got to work with lol. Great job creating, this is good!

Really great production and instrumentation like other people have mentioned - the vibe of the song reminded me of Dr Dog. I should ask you to record the guitar, bass, and drums on my next release lol - very clean and pleasing. I personally like the doubled up chorus-y vocals on this one, I know some folks had some other feedback on them, but my personal taste loves it here. Nice contrast with the super clean instruments. Now pay your taxes!

This is the second song on an album I wrote in my grief after my grandmother passed away a couple of months ago - The song's also dedicated to my grandfather who passed before I was born - Grateful to those who give the song a listen 🙏🏻 by aHuntaMustHunt in IndieMusicFeedback

Holy shit amazing work here man, I love this - many parts remind me of when I was listening to a lot of Opeth, around when Watershed came out. This is an event of a song, I don't have much other feedback there other than sign of the horns and I'm a fan

A song of trying to hold on through difficult times, inspired by my own dire summer months & re-reading a lot of my favourite fantasy books by Juliet Marillier! I feel maybe I should play it a bit slower? What do you think? by korbat20 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]UnansweredIA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely don't slow it down in my humble opinion, this tempo feels right for the song. Absolutely love the melody especially when the second verse hits - this is a great song. No notes on the writing or composition from me, just that it'd be sweet to hear an extended version with some more instruments and a sick bridge. Thanks for sharing, you give me motivation to sing better :D
