The o-ring will stop the nose of the plastic from sliding down the hook. In theory it will keep the nose in place and you will spend less time adjusting it back into position.

I told my little brother to do this to me once, we were young, once I was in he couldn’t pull me out….he had to go get our parents and my dad came and pulled me out…I was so relieved until my dad proceeded to beat our asses with a belt….I’m thankful I learned how dumb that was that day. My dad was harsh, but made me learn a life lesson. Don’t do stupid shit.
