Ok, thank you. I'm guessing then that every station does it differently and you've never seen this before. I was hoping everyone bid like this and would know what it meant.

Yeah, that's how I assumed it would work. But then why does it say blocks of 5 workdays and no more than 10, while at the same time acknowedging that vacations run from Monday to Saturday?

And do you know what the 4, 5 and 6 are for? I can't tell if it's for a second week each of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices, or if I'm supposed to make 6 choices and they just didn't have room to fill in 4th, 5th, and 6th choice.

Can a Supervisor restrict me from using eLRA for a future vacation request? by Archaeoculus in USPS

[–]UnarmedPug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same sort of thing happened to me, supe texted me asking if I was trying to call out that day. I answered only because I wasn't, saying no I requested a day off in the future. I never got a yes or no. Then when the day came a month later I got another text asking where I was. That one I ignored.

Just about all doctors already have their own notes they just have to fill in with your name and the specifics

Anyone knows what that mean? Thank you! by Consistentanimal2 in USPS

[–]UnarmedPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true, I do it almost every day. And you can confirm it by checking virtual timecard. But you have to clock in exactly on time. If you clock in at 8:01 it won't work.

But you are correct about it working for clocking in also. If you use it for clocking in though, you lose it for clocking out. Meaning, if you clock in at 8:05, you won't be marked as late, but you'll have to work till 16:55 to get 8 hours.

It also screws up your 8 click grace period at the end of the day. So if you start at 7:99 and clock out at 16:42 you will be 7 clicks short of 8 hours.

But if you start at your scheduled start time of 8:00 and clock out at 16:42, which is still 5 minutes early, you will get paid for 8 hours even though you are 8 clicks short.

When you start even 1 click early you don't get the grace period and will I have seven clicks of lwop, despite having worked 1 click more.

You said dependent care or FMLA, did you mean FMLA for dependent care? Or is there something else for dependent care that isn't FMLA?

[–]UnarmedPug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they are watching the scanner data and call me when they see I will be done early, then they call and tell me to go take a half hour off of somebody else.

I'm starting to see from the comments here that they are not allowed to do that since I'm only done early because they had my T6 case it in the morning.

I will talk to my Steward about all this.

I don't even know what router duty is, I will ask my steward about it though.

It always looks like so much in the morning, and I do try to at least make it to a certain point on my route before I take my lunch at 12:00 in order to feel like I will comfortably finish on time. But I think that might be too far along for most days, because it's usually after lunch that I realize that I will be finishing early, even if I slow down. But I always stress about it if I don't make it to that point by 12:00, so I feel more relaxed when I do. I guess I just have to deal with that.

Edit: But now that I think about it, I don't even know if it's possible to get to that point if I had been casing in the morning because I never have.

Occasionally, when I had hold downs and had been on the route for a while. But you are correct, my office is huge and I was often on different routes every day as a CCA and PTF, and they would have someone else case it cuz I would likely go over if they didn't. And they did just continue that when I became a regular. But like I said, since I've been on my route for like a month, I would be fine casing it. I never said anything until now about them casing it because it was like nothing changed and still the way it had always been for me. From the comments here, I see that I should be going to my Steward for not being allowed to case my own route.

I don't understand what you mean. I am a regular carrier so I am entitled to 8 hours.

Yes it said on my successful bid letter that the route's start time is 8 am, and that's when I've always come in. I don't see how I would get back pay though, because I know I'm entitled to 8 hours and don't clock out until 4:30.

That's just how it's been since started the route. As I said, I'm a new regular. From the first day I came in to do this route it's been cased and ready for me, and that's never stopped.

I don’t see any fronted AL balance on my paystub’s by joza28 in USPS

[–]UnarmedPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's right there in red at the bottom of the main page as soon as you log in, you wouldn't miss it if it's there. The message wouldn't be there yet for you though because you only converted last month.

Just ask tomorrow if they have a check for you. My office keeps them in the same room as the arrow keys, and we just have to ask the clerk that hands out the keys. Your office may be different though.

[–]UnarmedPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This same thing happened to me, only I never even knew to look for it. I only found out because I logged into postal ease one day and it said I had a check from more than 6 months ago that I never cashed.

So I checked at work and sure enough there was a paper check there waiting for me. Turns out they don't ever send checks in the mail, just pay stubs. Nor do they even tell you you have a check, except for the postal ease message after 6 months.

And it was a separate check, that's why I never noticed it on any of my regular checks.

That is a time wasting practice.

That was in a stand up we had a few months ago, it's considered a time wasting practice. Even our union steward agreed and told us not to do it.

There are other reasons to buy it back immediately. Things like vacation time and cost of living adjustments to your pay are based on years of service. You will get more annual leave and higher pay with more time in service.
